In an attempt to get back on topic....I still maintain this is more a preventative approach for avoiding eDiff problems than a performance discussion. Although interesting to hear the 430 Challenge doesn’t use an eDiff. Short drive on mine and it felt smoother in turns, but this is all subjective, I cannot provide real data. Backing up out of my driveway would always get some noise from the diff, I didn’t notice it this time. I generally drive in Sport. I’m a happy customer. 430 challenge has a motorsport LSD for simplicity, reliability, weight saving and because the whole car is optimised for one thing. I would prefer a simple LSD. Every performance car I've ever owned had one. Sure Grip on my HEMI Roadrunner in '68, on my HEMI Cuda (Vitamin C) in '70 (both Dana-Spicer type 60s from a dump truck), and Positraction on every Corvette. Transferring torque from the unloaded inner wheel to the wheel with the weight transfer seems intuitive. But, I didn't buy the SEB for a performance oriented reason. I bought it to avoid a potentially expensive and disabling failure of the complex E-diff internals. Much like the headers I installed. I didn't do that for performance reasons, but to avoid the engine ingesting catalytic converter material during valve overlap and destroying the $75k engine. My 430, as delivered, provides more power and torque than can reasonably used on public roads. And that is true of my four Corvettes, especially the two Z06 cars. So spending money to increase performance seems like carrying coal to Newcastle. I prefer to spend the money on safety and reliability upgrades. And the SEB includes a remote which can re-enable it if necessary. It was the look of the 430 I found compelling.
The e-diff is cool engineering and unless the system is failing, personally, I prefer to keep it engaged. Then again, if the e-diff is stressing other components then maybe it would be a nice feature to have particularly when not driving in a spirited manner. And as stated, it can be disabled. I'm driving an 2009 f430 with only 9,000 miles so maybe I'm not experiencing issues yet that other folks are.

On the question of eDiffs failing....the solenoid causes problems, I believe this addresses that situation or drastically reduces the potential of having an issue.
They did not have software or hardware to use the ediff in the 430 Challenge car. The ediff is however in both the 458 and 488 challenge cars.
I work on nothing but Ferrari's and any claim the 430 Ediff is problematic or having large scale issues isn't true. Almost all the Ediff issues are due to leaking Ediff solenoid or incorrect gear used in the transmission or most likely someone who has no idea of what they are doing working on the car in the first place. Properly maintained we just don't see issues with the 430 gearbox in general and we work on hundreds of them.

There are lots of good gear oils and you can start a whole debate on the subject. I choose to use the original Shell fluids in all the Ferrari Transmissions. From 355 forward and I use Royal Purple in the older transmissions. For me it is not worth risking the life of the transmission to experiment with fluids.
I've installed it in mine a couple of hundreds miles ago, to be honest, I don't notice any difference. But I'm happy to avoid future e-diff issues.
Hi I have a 2008 F1 with the red e-diff sign alternating with yellow manettino sign. Forces car into wet mode but no slow down message and car seems to drive fine. Restarting car makes no difference after 100ft sign is back. Would the seb unit sort this for me or is it only works BEFORE the error has come up so I need to fix it and then consider seb unit after that? Thanks Scott
I am seeing this for the first time - - did you fix your issue .. please do not patch an issue with the SEB .. lets get the f1 system working and then you can decide to bypass the EDIFF It sounds like a pressure issue ..let me know if you need help Thanks
