Here is a new video of my current setup: Fabio's headers, test 6-1 collectors, OEM center, and Tubi Competition mufflers. Enjoy!
I gotta get one of these setups from Fabio This setup will really attract Mustang GT’s and Honda Civic’s with a can.
Last Friday that was a 90s Ford Ranger on the highway. He paced me revving his engine for a couple miles. It brings out some interesting personalities, that is for sure.
Can you imagine driving a red or yellow Ferrari. On the road, at gas stations, etc -- it would get old quick.
Haven't been messed with yet in the last 4 years I've had my 550. I thought having a black one would be a little more under the radar, but that has not turned out to be the case. People come up and ask about it at the gas pump. I see cell phones taking pics at intersection and even while driving on the road. People seem to know intuitively that it's a Ferrari and they seem to be excited to actually see one in the wild. I try to be magnanimous and answer questions, wave, etc. I've let kids sit in the driver seat. Don't want to be "that guy" who personifies the stereotype of the "DB" Ferrari owner. And, no, nobody's yet confused it for a Corvette. Well, maybe once.
Off topic but..... I agree how rare it feels like Maranello's are out in the wild. I went to the Silicon Valley exotic's show again last Saturday with my wife/girls and it was mostly "new cars' and while there were 3 of the 612's there (which surprised me) again not a single Maranello. I joked with my wife that it felt like Nick Cage in Gone in 60 seconds. Memphis Raines: I've been in L.A. for three months now. I have money, I have taste. But I'm not on anybody's "A" list, and Saturday night is the loneliest night for the week for me. - Exotic Car Salesman: Well, a Ferrari would certainly change that. - Memphis Raines: Perhaps, Mmmm. But, you know, this is the one. Yes, yes yes the 430... I saw three of these parked outside the local Starbucks this morning, which tells me only one thing. There's too many self-Indulgent wieners in this city with too much bloody money! Now, if I was driving a V12 Maranello with Fabio's full exhaust....... - Exotic Car Salesman: You would not be a self-indulgent wiener, sir... You'd be a connoisseur. - Memphis Raines: Precisely. Champagne would fall from the heavens. Doors would open. Velvet ropes would part....instagram likes and youtube views would be through the roof! ;-)
For the Fábio owners, do you experience a rough start up in your vehicle until the fuel mixture sets itself right. I have seen at least 2 to 3 comments to that effect. I am experiencing it and also have CEL issues while others do not. Just looking for feedback.
I have re-used the "champagne would fall from the heavens" line at least 100 times. What a terrific scene that was!
No, every time smooth running, cold and hot. Also no CELL. Only one thing is not possible like in the past. Let come the clutch without throttle at cold engine. In original spec, the car began to drive, now the car stalls. I think the much lower back pressure is responsible for that. Daniel
Daniel- May be just the 575Ms and Motronic 7.1.1 that do that and the 550's Motronic 5.2 is to dumb to care. No CELs for me, either.
Sounds authoritative and festive with a twist of hooligan. Delicious overall. What is your sound recording set up and where was the mic located? Would like to use similar set up and mic location to compare. Mine has Fabio's H-pipe and valved mufflers only. Everything in front of that is stock.
@root what part of the SF bay are you in? Sometime we should hit a tunnel and I can run a camera and follow you (like @white out did with his buddy)....perhaps the tunnel on westbound Broadway in the city or we could do the tunnel from Oakland to Alameda or....I'm trying to think if there are any down south by me in the San jose to Santa cruz area.......
Hi Eric, I'm in the East Bay area, Dublin. I know the Broadway tunnel from back when I had '90 Miata and lived in the Sunset. Used to redline her every time when going through the tunnel with the top down. Much lighter traffic in those days.
What is your CEL code? Do you still have cats? Sure thing! It's a Rode Video Mic Pro on a Nikon D500 mounted to my headrest. The suction mount was from Amazon and meant for a cell phone mount on the windshield. Works great and has stayed on at very high speeds in the rain. And I agree 100% on the sound. I think this kind of sound is how most people probably expect a Ferrari to sound on a movie. It is very fun and people seem to like it (and it is so much quieter than when I had the open H-pipes, that was silly insane). Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just get her back from Scuderia installing Fabio's Mufflers and H-Pipe. Startup and ending with Valves open. Valves are closed from about :55 to 1:15 <iframe width="560" height="315" src="" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Hey sorry I missed this. It looks like both front left and right O2 sensor temperature codes, but this usually only happens if there aren't any cats. I am no expert, but you may want to try euro non-cat O2 sensors. Let me see if I can find the part number (there is a generic Bosch unit that is a fraction of the cost of the O2 sensor that comes in the yellow box).
Those are some nice looking sets of pipes! IMO from those clips the sound seems very similar to setups using the 6-1 headers. I'd love to hear a clip driving at high rpms!
