After a life changing year I’ve had much time to reflect on the twenty or so years I hope I have left. On the car side, I’ve realized I don’t like the trajectory Ferrari is taking and I’m not proud to be in the Club anymore. I feel like a total sucker. They are cheating their clients with cars that should be a lot better for the sticker price with options prices that are unjustifiable and many of which should be standard. But now the depreciation levels have become insane due to the speed of new models and the number of cars being produced. I paid £340k last June and my 812 will leave me on Friday for £240k. But even if I can afford the painful hit, I just don’t like the cars anymore. The 812 is a widow maker in the wet, far too large to be fun on U.K. B roads, far too powerful to be really usable, and unparkable on the street as it just invites to be jealously keyed. It’s really not fun and rather stressful.
Where do I go from here. We’ll simply put this is my wish list in a next car until ICE or me gives up the ghost:
    1. Already depreciated
    2. No more than 350hp
    3. Mid engine handling
    4. Fun on small country roads at near legal speeds.
    5. Will put a smile on my face and not scare me to death in the wet.
    6. I’d like to spend £100-120k.
    7. Convertible if possible.
    I would welcome your suggestions....

I know you're done with Ferrari and sorry to hear you being so disillusioned. When I look at your list above, the one car that comes to mind (even though it is a targa and not convertible) would be a well-sorted 328 GTS or GTB ('88.5 - '89 if you want the ABS). It seems to tick all of your first 6 boxes and perhaps a half-tick for number 7. It is also so iconic, that people have much respect for the car. I can park it pretty much anywhere and people just appreciate it or maybe they figure Magnum is on a case;)

Just because it has 800 hp doesn't mean you need to use 800 hp. Doesn't it have a wet mode on the manettino?

My situation was not the same but had some similarities. It’s already been mentioned, but I went with a well sorted 328GTS and am having a great time. Love the car and no regrets.

The Cali or Cali T fit the bill (aside from the horsepower criteria)

Porsche Boxster or Boxster Spyder would be my suggestion, and both are well under your stated price range, even a new one. As far as fully depreciated choices, only the classic Ferrari and Porsche models (80's and 90's) are likely to fit the bill. Maybe 360/430/458 are done depreciating, but those bust your requirement that power be under 350 bhp.

My opinion on all Ferrari/Porsche models is that the older, less powerful cars are more fun to drive. More modern models have impressive performance, but performance doesn't really equal fun in my book. I'd go for a 308 or 328 (which I did), or an 80's 911 Carrera (which I also did).

But you may not care for the direction Porsche is headed either. That shouldn't matter if you're focused on the older cars.

LOL, except that a 992 would violate his first 4 requirements.

A 348 spider would fit nicely. A little more modern than the 328/308, fully depreciated, decent horsepower, great steering, convertible, small enough to fit on the road. It checks all the boxes .

My wife's 2015 Porsche Boxster GTS 6 speed is a blast! Just fast enough, precise steering with sharp turn in, neutral balance due to mid engine, great brakes and good ergonomics. A new one would be just below your price target.

Dont sell the 812, Its a great car, you can keep it, and instead of losing 100k, buy a 328 , or a Porsche , or whatever fits your bill of fair. Its sucks that the UK is always in the wet, turn off the traction control , practice your throttle control on a better, wider road, or a race track or parking lot . You have not had it even a full year yet . I cant understand why F car buyers are so keen on selling their brand new cars, just to buy the next model, or something else, when they have not even got acquainted with their car, let alone take the depreciation hit. I dream of having the greatest as of yet iteration of the F Car V12, what else could one ever want, no matter what comes out of Modena. You must be flush , ship the car to So Cal , spend a month or so here, after that, you wont be wanting to sell that beast !! lol . Best of luck with whatever you decide.

    Thank you

Sorry for your loss but at 240k that 812 is someone's dream bargain
