And in a single moment, TFX became a shipper than no exotic owner ever hired again.

That photo is about 6 years old, maybe more. Still, I hate it when that happens.

Any details on the story of how it happened? Looks like a series of failures took place.

I've been watching videos of them backing out onto those sketchy elevator platforms now for a few years thinking hmmm, what could possibly go wrong here...

    Should have drove it home.

All racecars and teams everywhere do this and have for years. They use a special, high tech, device to keep cars from falling and accidents from happening....

    ...18" long piece of 2x4.

Just curious - would the shipper's insurance cover the necessary repair or does the contract specifically state it does not? I have never shipped a car so have no idea.

Totally agree with driving it home unless it's specifically a non-drivable car.

Well to be fair in the vast majority of cases this sort of thing doesn't happen.

TFX is an exceptional carrier with an outstanding reputation. They have moved a number of cars for me always without issue. Naturally if you move enough cars eventually something bad will happen so I would not judge TFX on this old photo. Threads like this are unfortunate bad press but I would still not hesitate for a moment to use TFX.

Had that happen in front of me two years ago. My Jeep alternator died, and I pulled off into a grocery store parking lot. Tow truck driver that works for my mechanic arrived with a pickup truck on his flatbed and said he’d take mine to the shop with his hook in back. Accidentally raised the flatbed instead of extending the hook, just a couple inches, but by the time he realized it, the pickup rolled backwards freely right off the end and wrecked into the parking lot. Once loaded, car should be properly secured with straps through the wheels.

I wonder how TFX'x insurance tried to get out of covering the loss.
