Purchased a 2017 California T last year, and I noticed the roll bar covers and the driver dash leather are loosening up and getting ripples. Has anyone had the same problems? The car is currently at the dealer for service, I have extended warranty and free maintenance. Does the fix include new material, or reapplication of glue?

There was a post recently commenting that this occurs because Ferrari only uses glue to put the leather on instead of glue and staples, so the glue loosens up with heat over time. When they repair it, they should staple it down so it will hold better.

I do not believe this would be covered under the extended New Power warranty but if you extended the original new car warranty with two additional years before it expired, it probably would be. Or, if you're servicing it at the dealership where you bought it, they might give you some goodwill on it.

Roll bar covers are not terribly expensive to have recovered. The dash would be a few thousand dollars plus R&R time. Depending on your dash colors, sometimes straight black can be a little less expensive than two tone. Then again, pay a little more and get a one of one done... if you are doing it anyways!

Could be covered under warranty extension like vjd3 mentioned, but not under new power warranty.

I have a post here about that.

    It's a common issue on Cali T.

Mine is a 2016 Cali T and my roll bar covers are warped too due to leather shrinkage, heat from sun.
I am now applying 303 Leather Treatment with UV protection to protect the interior leather from UV rays.

I will be removing mine and have it recovered by a local leather car guy. I'm estimating around $200.00 parts and labor.

The leather over the speedometer cluster has pulled back on my 17t with extended warranty. The dealer said it is not covered, they will send it out to a specialist for repair, estimate of 1400.
I will update once it is completed.

I have similar issue on my 2016 T. The leather on the binnacle top started to curl up and shrink. See photo below.

It appears the leather glue used by Ferrari starts to let ago after prolong sun exposure which is difficult to avoid on a long drive on sunny days.
You'd think Ferrari would use better leather glue.............

To avoid future shrinkage I was told to regularly apply leather UV protectant.

    I had three estimates:
    $1,400.00
    $800.00.
    $400.00

Mine is currently being repaired (new leather applied) by a local reputable leather guy. Estimate: $400.00.
I am the one that removed the binnacle and will be responsible for reinstalling it too.
Removing the binnacle is big pain in the rear end.

I will post photos once mine is done as well.

So sorry to hear about the leather shrinkage. You would think Ferrari would have addressed this by now along with the soft touch buttons. Hopefully your leather guy will take care of the problem. Thank you for sharing all of your projects on this forum. I especially look forward to your post on the repair of the binnacle. They do benefit all of us here and is very much appreciated by all.

Not encouraging this is happening to a 2017 model.

Yes I have a PF-M ordered but sometimes seeing these posts I question my decision.

I have managed to avoid dash leather shrinkage on my older Ferraris by parking them under cover in dark garages and periodically treating the interiors with G Techniq and Renapur products. Other products may work equally well.

I am interested to know, was there an answer on why Ferrari doesn't use staples as well as glue for the leather, other than I guess cost?

What extended warranty did you get?
I purchased the New Power Warranty and was informed it doesnt cover leather items.

For leather treatment with UV protectant I use Griots Garage Leather 3 in 1 Spray.
It conditions and protects car leather and has UV protection.

The warranty is the extended factory warranty after the original
warranty expires. The power warranty covers engine related items
    and the roof.Hope that helps.

It is important to treat these leather upholstered cars, especially on drop tops. Shrinkage is not just a result of UV rays, it is a result of a lack of moisturizing. This is real leather, unlike what is sold in a lot of cars as leather, and even though it was developed for automotive use, does that not mean it will not need treatment. If one lives in a hot and sunny climate, I'd say a good once over treatment should be a bi-monthly thing. The leather around the top of the ashtray on a Cali or Porto which sees a lot of shn znd heat, will need an equsl sufficient care.
