I searched the forum and couldn't find the answer to my question, so please forgive me if it has been asked and answered. I recently purchased a truly fine 2009 F430 Scuderia edition Ferrari with the iPod interface. My question is simple, since mine did not come with the iPod, which model iPod fits correctly into the interface?

    Much appreciated!

    Rick

Rick... are you talking about the iPod interface in the glove box? If so, any iPod with a 30-pin adaptor should work. When I had my F430, I used an iPod nano b/c it's small.

No, the one built into the dash. Sorry should have been more clear.

Scuderia has no glove box, it is located near the passenger footwell. Any ipod will work, newer ones require a lightning adaptor available at any apple store.

The 16M Scuderia Spider had an in-dash interface that was designed to be used with an iPod touch that came with the vehicle.

Yes. That one. Mine did not come w the iPod. The newer iPod touches don't fit so I need to buy an older one on eBay. My question is what model iPod will fit correctly into the interface.

I have a 16M and know I don't have a glove box, but didn't realize the Scud does either... silly assumption on my behalf.

According to Wikipedia, the 3rd generation iPod Touch was shipping in 2009... so I'd bet this is the model you want.

You can still get them from Ferrari for a not inconsiderable £2400! LOL
I have an unused boxed one, I will check the exact version - from memory it needs to run a particular version of the IOS, iTunes cannot update the IOS as it is locked down and I assume this is to keep compatibility.

I have this "old" iPod for my 16M .....very dated.
I find it pretty much useless....

Does anyone know the exact space of the 16m iPod? Would like to find a backup and doesn't have to be the OEM Ferrari one. Thx

i just put in an after market DIN radio and kept the OEM for resale. Works way better, get streaming, bluetooth so smartphone nav works thru speakers, and BT phone as well but usually too loud for chatting anyway :)

I have my original still boxed Ferrari iPod, looking at the box details it is a 16G model, part no. MB531BT/A, on the back of the iPod/box it gives a model A1288

Sorry for the intrusion, but my Scuderia has radio nav but no cable for the iPod. Would that be a simple retrofit? Where could I buy the cable? Can I get the newest with the recent connector? Thanks.

    That is an ipod 2.

Have you been able to use this with Google maps for navigation through a wifi link to your phone?

Maybe an iphone 3 with data service will work with Google maps that way we don't need to fiddle with wifi through our phones?

I have the BECKER unit in my car so never tried it, car came with the iPod kit as well but I see little point swapping it over as I also have the iPod cable connection to the BECKER.

So I lost the iPod that came with the 16M, what's the best course of action for me? Not even sure if Ferrari still sells them.

No one sells them new. It's just a standard iPod touch. should be able to get a used one from eBay. FYI: even though it may look like the touch is an older iPhone, it's not the same size. It's thinner than the older iPhones from 2009
