So I was thinking about this for a while...

    "All NA Ferraris"
    VS
"All (turbo/assisted motors) Ferraris + Electric Ferraris (as expected)"

I imagine because of the fast pace of change due to "environment friendly" policies and "E philosophies" going on, it is a matter of time to see pure ICE as endangered species of engines. And in a much faster pace than most of us ever thought!
    My Qs R,
If it happens soon (in 4-5 Ys),
-Where do U think the prices of pure ICE would be heading?
-Do U expect most people would instantly adapt to new GEN and not really care about what they were used to for decades?
-Nostalgic factor, for how long? How hard?
-Any other thoughts regarding this matter?

    Thank you,,,

I think that depends on the supporting infrastructure. do Gas stations start to shut down, and move to rapid recharging stations? once you cant get fuel, its over. until then it will just cost more to operate.

I've driven both a Tesla and hybrid toyota... they are nice cars... the tesla was a bit "cheap" on the inside... all the thin plastics etc... but rode just like any car. the Toyota was essentially a regular car with electric mode and a tiny 3 cyl engine .... drove it from Bordeaux to Lalinde France for a week... only filled up once - cost about $75 in gas.... that was pretty cool. and we drove all over the place

    I totally agree Tom.
Supporting infrastructure is key regarding this topic. However, IMO it is more likely to take much more time to become a reality, I mean the shift in manufacturers products towards E would be the faster horse in this race.
So until this happens, I would like to know what people think would happen to the market of hundreds of thousands of ICE F cars, yet millions of other ICE Supercars.
Interesting feedback on your E/Hybrid experience BTW. Thank you.

I sat here for awhile trying to think through a cogent response to your question but couldn't come up with a plausible scenario, other than the very best ICE examples becoming limited use novelties or museum pieces. Maybe an aftermarket electrification industry also emerges to keep certain models on the road. The good news is that this is 2-3 decades away.

Great questions and I think a very interesting topic for sure.
Rarity is the name of the game. Regardless of the powertrain. Common Ferrari will follow the natural trendline. Special ones have a great chance of appreciation.
    Yes, definitely.
For a long time, ICE will still be here, long after I'm buried. That's why I chuckle with folks that are so angry about the transition. Just enjoy your ICE cars, the next La Ferrari should have zero effect on your love of your NA 458 & 812. If it does bother some, unless you're on the fortunate list, the problem I dear say is not the next Hypercar's chosen powertrain....

With electrical turbo assist and software, I've had a hard time distinguishing turbo lag. The only downside I've experienced with Turbo is sound, yet with the proper exhaust, it's pretty darn close (especially from the driver's seat).

I mean is the F40 less of a 'true Ferrari?'
I've seen that TURBO on many's Top 5 lists. Yet today's Turbo setups make the F40's quaint by comparison.

What a "choice of words" and "simple yet detailed & logical feedback/explanation" Paul.
Frankly made me look at the "Turbo Craze" thing differently, eventhough I am still a stubborn biased N/A V12 lover.

I think the Classic car market - and the supercar market will have migrated onto newer Electric supercars. Evo has an article on a new Lotus race car with all kinds of advanced tech... so I think supercars of the future will be more and more like this... speed will increase as will the ability for the average person to drive faster and faster with more safety. I can see a time where to properly enjoy your supercar you have to wear a G suit of some kind or the seat is one of those massage-type chairs that encloses you and keeps blood flow to your brain so you don't blackout. I think cars will be lighter - safer and way faster ... battery technology will improve so that range is not an issue and perhaps there will be a common batter type that you just exchange instead of refueling? I don't know.... I can see at some point ICE cars being thought of like we do Modes T fords or a Monza 8C .... pretty and interesting but hard to use, mechanical, and needing lots of specialist support. I would think you would be able to purchase gas and oil, or perhaps convert the cars to Hydrogen or LPG, but it will be a hobby for wealthy folks, and I agree with Jay Lenno that you most likely will use them like we use Horses today...pleasure at a dedicated track... or for special occasions on a very limited basis... around Central Park in a Rolls? or Bugatti, .... or a self-drive tour in a Ferrari around Rome or Milan... you will see less and less of them in the wild, and once the infrastructure goes ... they will be super expensive to operate. 50 years from now a 1985 308 gts, will be a 100-year-old car, with limited ability to be used... and probably only a few that are serviceable. 250 GTO's and the like will be like Monets in museums or private collections - with an enhanced reality portion that will make you feel what it was like to be in the car. I think virtual reality for all these old cars will be more the norm. Today with a very basic Racing Sim set up like I have - I can drive a 250 GTO or SWB - at Goodwood = thrash the crap out of it, for pennys... and have just as much fun... the sound is amazing - my sim does not have motion or smell, but that is getting cheaper and easier and more realistic by the year... the point is the experience can be had with almost no cost.... you can even get out and do a virtual tour of the car.... its truly amazing. so imagine 50 - 100 years from now. if there is any justice you can get in your future car - and have the whole experience be like driving a GTO - or any marque you like.... perhaps that is what you will buy -is the license to own a Ferrari... and you experience it all virtually...??????

    One little complication to interfere

between the USA and EU there are about 600 million active personal vehicles

even if annual production of EVs (pure, not ICE+hybrid) was 10m per year (and that is a big 'maybe' by 2030)

it would take 60 years to simply replace those 600 million just once

even if EV production was 50m per year, it would still take more than a decade

it is unlikely EV will ever fully replace ICE, on any timeline...

(not even mentioning the gargantuan issue of electricity production)

You are most likely correct-but in 60 years I will it be around so I really don’t know or care. If I can keep my Ferrari going between now and when I can’t use it or drive I’ll be theilled

Exactly! I've been saying this same thing for years. Governments aren't going to ban ICE overnight. It would destroy the world economy. Also, the overwhelming majority of folks are not car enthusiasts like us. Most of the bans I do see are also with new cars and in certain areas.
