I think that's a good move. Wait til you can add the 458 alongside your GT3. As special as Ferrari's are, I miss my GT3RS.
So I woke up this morning thinking about he 458. I can't et it out of my head, I want the car. ugh. What do you all think is a good price for a 2014 458 (very well specced) with 10k miles in very good condition, all service up to date, one owner car?
I like to think mine was pretty well-specced: 2015 6800 miles Rosso Scuderia / Nero Factory Black roof Sport wheels CF seats Full CF interior Red seatbelts, red Cavallino in headrest, scuderia shields Rear backup sensors Front axle lift Mine was $205k that I bought Nov 2019. Ideally it would have had a CF rear bumper connector, backup camera, and cruise control. But it took me about a year to find this one and it's definitely "good enough"! i bought that exact car (2014 with 4700 miles) in 2019 for 199k. Sold it 18 months later for 190k. Best 9k I ever spent!
Last July I gave $200k for a well equipped 2013 Spider with 10k miles including 2 year warranty. I think prices have inched up maybe $10k since then. For a 2014 Spyder I would expect $210k or higher depending on condition and options etc. An Italia would likely bring $10-$20k less than a Spider. Having had a GT-3 PDK (manual wasn't available in 2015) and then selling it, I would wait until I could afford to keep both both the Ferrari and the GT-3 manual. I think the GT-3 manual will hold it's value well in the meantime.
I have a 2018 GT3 991.2 MT and a 2013 458 Spider (among other Ferrari’s). And I have given this issue a lot of thought. The two cars are not comparable. They give you very different driving experiences. I love driving both, but if I had to keep only one—it would be the Ferrari.
likely you won’t. And you know what? You can always get the GT3 in the future should you want to. enjoy!
IMO driving a manual GT3 is more fun than driving a 458. The 458 is a more beautiful car with more presence and great sound but its not much faster and is quirky compared to the Porsche. Both cars are keepers and deciding between them is not an ideal situation.

I've been giving this a lot of thought. In my case, since it's a Spider and I live in NorCal, the 'fun factor' is quite high in the 458. I do agree the MT is deliciously mechanical on the GT3, it's very engaging and I love every time I switch cars. But then the double clutch shifts (both up and down) on Race mode in the 458 are also another level. To your point, a nightmare to have to make a choice. But ultimately if you didn't track the GT3, I think I'd keep the 458 S.
Congrats on the 458! I had the luxury of keeping my early GT3, it's raw/analog/loud/smelly and track-focused which is where it gets enjoyed. The 458 is a different animal, and to be honest, it's not a track car (and that's fine with me). It's 'Racy' as far as a street touring car is concerned, but not a race car. Both are best of breed for the intended usage. Cheers! Matt
Agreed, I think to be at GT3-level in terms of racing, there's the Speciale. Almost 2x the value of the GT3. Ouch!
