Our Hawthorn hedges didn't survive the few continuous days of 10 deg F low / 25 deg F high. The ones that did survive in our neighborhood are the Japanese Boxwood (OKish, but took some damage) and the Dwarf Yaupon (they did very well). What were looking for is ~4' high, maybe, ~3' wide, and not too messy (no berries, no leaf loss). Right now our choices seem to be:

    1. Dwarf Yaupon -- but it is a little low for height as it's more like 3' high.

    2. Boxwood -- OKish, but not as cold hardy as the Dwarf Yaupon, and seems to drop a lot of leaves.

Any other suggestions? Of course, it also has to be able to survive 100~110 deg F high temps for a period of about 4 months ;)

What part of Texas? Contrary to the foreigners beliefs, there are differing environments around the State.
