the Ferrari market watch thread

I was being more general, most car owners - not F car buyers.

I’d rate 60-70% of F car buyers as semi-knowledgeable enthusiasts, however probably only 20% are technical nerds - a figure falling every passing year. Car culture, as it were, is slowly dying as a mainstream hobby.

That’s not to say it’s not a very serious hobby, just not what it once was. 30 years ago must 17 year olds judged you on what car you drive, now they judge you on how old your iPhone is and how woke you are.

Respectfully disagree Mike - at least here in Qld when I joined the club nearly 20 years ago, I really struggle to recall any members who weren’t engaged with the cars (as distinct from the brand).

 

IMO: To suggest anyone /most that buy a new luxury brand are only buying for the label is totally incorrect or to be blunt an insult to the buyer .I've know and met many people with new luxury brands ,most are well aware of "Tech side" of the purchase.

As the years past many are aware of issues and the pleasures of said unit.

Plenty of old car guys buy new luxury ....are they uninterested in the "tech side " NO.

To put down anyone who buys a new luxury car as non "Tech" is pure Bitterness .

 

And I've met plenty who don't have a clue

Your knowledge on significant cars that have landed in Oz is second to none IMHO but my knowledge on Ferraris is reasonably good because I've had an interest in Ferrari since I was 5yo and have read everything I could get hold of plus now being lucky enough to have owned 3 of them.

Apart from the engine out service I do all the maintenance on my car and have Marc do a yearly to act as my backup of confidence in the car.

I have knowledge of how these cars work more than most and have rebuilt many engines over the last 50 years, mostly with the assistance of my father ..... rebuilding a roller bearing crank Honda S600 at 18 was a real insight to highly strung engines, so when I hear the ramblings of fellow Ferrari owners with not a single clue as to how their car works I roll my eyes and walk off, but there are plenty of very knowledgeable people in the Ferrari club as there would be in any other car club.

 

Yes, as a generalisation I don't like to generalise.

 

Must be a QLD issue , 5 of the guys on our just done drive have 599s another bought and sold an 812? They know plenty about there cars or as much as can be expected of a modern car.

Let's not believe too much of the rubbish that gets posted here ....... I found the hole in the wheel the other day that led to the lower tyre pressure .... getting fixed now as we speak

 

How many cylinders ? 8 or 12?

 

Must be a 12, Enzo said Ferraris only had 12 and mine has a Ferrari badge on the front

 

I prefer the 4 cylinder sports racing Ferrari's off the 50s .

it was a pity the previous owner painted the seats with a water base paint ,when I applied hide-food all the colour came out ,the next (current owner ) retrimmed her .
