I’ve owned a 456, 430 and a 599 and noticed that each car has an “evolution” after 5 years and then a “revolution” after another five years. Each time, fixing some issues during the evolution release and a totally new car after the revokution. Take the 550-575, 458-488, F12-812, 360-430 etc. Why didn’t the 599 follow this tradition? This is just for my curiosity...

The 599 got an engine derived from the Enzo. Basically the engine of the F12 and 812 are anorher/further development. So it is a evolution.

The chassis of the 599 was a brand new aluminium design and 100% different compared to the old steel chassis of the 456/550/575. I think the chassis of the F12 and 812 is also not a revolution. The layout seems to be pretty much identical.

There is always some type of progression but the 599 does appear to be a bit more unique than most Ferrari's as it doesn't have the same level of model development.

I understand the confusion since this was a departure for them with the chassis. The engine, obviously, was a known quantity. The magnetorheological suspension was certainly a first. Not to mention the shear size of the car compared to the 575. The marketing advertised it as faster than the F40 so maybe that was the design goal in a new more modern shape. Some people really hate the design, I fell in love with it when it was introduced. Montezemolo wanted a "statement car", he certainly got one!

The chassis of the 599 was a development of the all aluminum 612 chassis, the first V12 all aluminum chassis and body production Ferrari. The 360 was Ferrari's first aluminum chassis and body production model.
