My 512TR`s 2nd gear is whining. I have had this car only some months, driven just few hundred km. Car had some engine running problem when I got it (cam timing wasnt ok) and maybe because of that I didnt heard that 2nd gear whining then, or it was a bit quieter with different oil, or I just was so excited to noticed anything ;D After done cam timing I also changed the new differential. Few days ago I drove this car first time after those services, and noticed that whining. All other gears do fine. Is there anything to do to it whitout taking engine out ?
If you had the diff changed, it could have changed the gear stack set up and that could possibly make second gear mesh less than optimal and it might have a whine. I would try different gear oil but I am thinking it will take more than that to get the whine out.
Oil change doesnt help. (there wasnt any metal in oil or magnets) What you think is it ok to drive it a little without using 2nd gear ?
When they replaced the differential did they replace the crown and pinion gears or only the carrier and reshim for preload and pattern.. If they only replaced the differential carrier this should not have affected 2nd gear.
