"Tape" as a translation of "Binding" perhaps, hard bound?

A few weeks ago I received the new English edition of Ch. Pozzi, by Arnaud Meunier and translated from French by our own Marc Sonnery @Nembo1777 It is a large format book and well stocked with photographs and illustrations of both the racing history and road car operations of Pozzi. So far I’ve only been able to page through it, stopping to look at interesting pictures or read a particular passage. Although it’s in what I would call an enhanced scrapbook format, which is not my favorite, I’m very pleased with it so far inasmuch as virtually everything in the book is new to me. The approach is somewhat episodic as opposed to a continuous narrative woven into a complete story. In any case I’m very happy to have it and thanks to Doug Blair and Eau Rouge Publishing (and Marc) for making it available in English.

That's the thing with these specialist books.

Many are not limited in terms of numbered copies but I'd be very surprised if they printed more then 3,000 books in total.

Marc you would know the answer to that better then most.

    Hello Mark,

Frankly since I chose to always get paid by flat fee as opposed to royalties I have never either known nor been motivated to find out how many of each book were printed.

I can't be bothered chasing royalties or getting involved in sales, some do, like Nathan, which is fine but it's not for me. A flat fee suits me.

The novel I wrote, not car related, medieval era... I got an ISBN and set up print on demand ordering but could not be bothered beyond that, it turned out I was interested in creating not selling.

3000 sounds like a correct ball park figure...just a guess.

Marc, you're one of the lucky ones! I don't get paid a flat fee or royalties. I get involved in sales because if I don't sell my books then I'll lose money.
And I dream of 3000 copies. There were only 1500 copies of my 550/575 book printed, and I still have some left. Believe me I do not make a living out of producing and selling books. I do it for the love of the subject.

That's funny. I order every book I like no matter how expensive(within reason), but to use. I could never be just a collector as they would say my books were not in perfect condition, although I do take good care of them.

I’m not sure if this has been posted else where, but sad news arrived on my Facebook feed this week.

The publisher David Bull passed away a few days ago. I’m sure many here have one or many books that he published over the years. Whenever I met him at Monterey he had so much enthusiasm and pride for his work, a true gentleman who had time for even an uneducated enthusiast

    Here’s a touching obituary: https://www.superbikeplanet.com/rip-david-bull-book-publisher-dad-friend-and-angel/

    RIP David

Oh, no. I’m so sorry to hear this. You know, this is two deaths of those associated with the work-in-progress book about Chinetti/NART.....Michael Lynch and now David.

    Sincere condolences to the family.

Very sad news. Rest In Peace David.

I heard an interview with him a few years ago and was amazed at what he went through with his accident and how he come through on the other side.
    I have provided the link.

His published work on the life of Enzo Ferrari remains one of the highlights of my large library.

    It will be well cherished.

Yes, for a long time it seemed like we might not get an English translation and then David Bull came through.
