Yes and no: At least the car gets driven the way it was intended to.

Indeed, but on the other hand it is as if a retired painter was trying to add some colors to the mona lisa..

Just saw that- how dumb for a historic race.

I think that comparison is a bit unfair to Arnoux. That comparison would hold water if one of the regular owners of these cars bins it, which happens as well.

And therein lies my comment: Many of these owners just drive the cars around the track (nothing wrong with that, I'd probably do the same to be honest) but never give it the full beans anymore. So here comes a real F1 driver and takes it for a spin. Ok, he crashes but at least it run fabulously till then. Like that inboard camera view from Alesi. Epic stuff.

In reality these cars shouldn't be driven around Monaco, despite the great looks: Too easy to hit a wall for amateurs as well as former pros. Too unforgiving of a circuit with no room for error.

    So sad.
    The 312 B3 is such a beautiful F1 Ferrari.

The 70's F1 race was some of the best racing I've seen in years. Too bad it ended the way it did but c'est la vie.

I disagree, a racing car needs to be in competitive motion for its real beauty, visual and aural, to shine.
Better that than to appear only on a lawn or in a museum as static sculpture.

A personal opinion , expressed with no disrespect to those who think differently.

That 312 will be rebuilt properly, and to me, will be undiminished.

Agree. It'll be rebuild, and raced again. These cars where build 50 years ago with the sole purpose to last one season, at best. Here they are being raced, still! What a spectacle. I genuinely was on the edge of my seat the entire race!

    Yes, indeed, revise the rules
    a) so that cars are not as long as a large SUV (say 96" wheelbase maximums)
    b) so the engines make proper noise
    c) so the drivers can see the front parts of their car
    d) so we can see them at work
    e) with only 2 definitive aerodynamic surfaces (no floors, legs near the ground, straight line of sight to the front wing)

The recipe really is quite simple.

Seriously yesterdays race was so damn exciting...2 F1 cars racing inches away from each other lap after lap. Superb!

Alesi's fait didn't change much, brilliant as ever, and unlucky as ever, He's still such an amazing driver, what a pleasure to watch him again, this smaller older cars allow for 10x better racing than todaqy's huge trucks.
