Rest In Peace, very fast and talented driver. https://www.motorsport.com/indycar/news/three-time-indy-500-winner-bobby-unser-dies/6502073/
sad. I always enjoyed him in the booth with Paul Page. with his high pitched voice he always sounded really excited, even when he probably wasn't
The Unser family has won the Indianapolis 500 nine times. Simply remarkable. His performance at Pikes Peak is unbelievable, and watching him go sideways at full speed around those cliffs, before it was paved, is hair raising. RIP Image Unavailable, Please Login
Oh, no. One of the last of the guys from the golden era of Indy. He saw it all. I was privileged to meet him and some of the clan during Christmas years ago at their Chama ranch. Sincere condolences to the family.
After Sam Posey had just finished a detailed description of the perfect lap around the Brickyard: “Sam, you’re just wrong!”
With everything else in the world going retro, WTF can't the entire Racing Industry? Those cars looked so badass.
I took this photo of Bobby Unser back in 2003 at Amelia Island. Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sad news, a gifted driver and definitely one of the characters of the sport. Insufferable alongside Posey and Page in the booth though. Posey and Unser would constantly bicker like an old married couple with the bumbling idiot Page trying to keep the peace. Together, from a broadcast perspective, they set CART back 25 years. We're losing our icons. BHW
nah, Posey and Bobby were great "odd couple" commentary Page was a dud, but didn't he own the production rights?
I met Bobby once, at the EAA fly-in in Oshkosh in 1983 (of all places!), where he was pushing Amsoil. And during my Route 66 trip in 2019, I visited the Unser Family Racing Museum in Albuquerque, which is a must-see for all serious fans of Indycar racing.
RIP - a legend! I never "liked" the Unsers as I was always an Andretti fan, but what a character and a damn good driver.
