Would you rather pay more for some 70s Mopar POS that doesn't drive well?

Ford GTs have secured iconic status.

The 05-06 cars are stout and can be modified.

The new FGT is likely to be a headache to own long term (complicated, tight packaging, perhaps rushed to market prior to being fully sorted out).

There are very few American cars that aren't laughed at in Europe and the Ford GT is one of them.

They are just that damned good.....

I was out driving mine yesterday, everything you can want in a true icon....great power (650 hp for me), great transmission with bolt action shifting, great handling (between a modern Ferrari (too light) and a modern all-wheel drive Lamborghini (too heavy), great brakes, great ergonomics, and a timeless beauty.

Plus it takes a driver with skill to manage it without all the goofy driver aids cars are saddled with today.

For a long time, I didn't get it.....how can an American car manufacturer with no history of building world class supercars even compete, much less build something iconic? But once I started seeing sterling reviews from guys in the automotive press I respected in 2019, I gave it a new look. And any thoughts about buying something else in that price range just melted away.

I've sold two in that last 6-8 months. The one I sold 8 months ago was for 60k less and they both had about 3k miles.

Dang, your buyers did good....$253k for a 3k mile car, I haven't seen a price like that in a year.

BTW, do you still have your black CGT I helped you find?

Did I forget the color? It was the one with high miles that was around $500k (I think) at the time.

Nice, I came close to buying a fairly pristine white one with 4K miles......but ended up feeling more comfortable buying a modded out 28k mile car in driver condition (a little rough around the edges, but I’m addressing that slowly) and saving $100k.

I figured I’m getting the same ownership experience (but lower on the investment scale) and not guilty to put miles on it.

Good luck, hope you can find what you’re looking for. If you are ready to buy, get on the Ford GT forum and post what you are looking for....you will get some off market cars pitched to you, sometimes under retail market.

With Shark’s help, I bought the “fairly pristine white one” that was original owner with sub-4,000 miles. I bought it at the beginning of the pandemic and could not be any happier. It was a long time coming, and it’s the car that I would part with last. I love it. It’s not the fastest car I own, but it’s the best, and frankly, it’s not really even a very close contest.

These things are only selling for 2x MSRP like 15+ years later...I don't see how that's crazy especially with how rare the car is. It's not like one model year of a commonly recurring body style and engine layout from Ford like Ferrari does with mid-engine V8 cars.

It’s just the $50-100,000 run up in the last 6-12 months that is surprising.

The run up really started at BJ in Jan 2020, when every one of the 11 they auctioned sold for $300k+.......I figured my dream was gone LOL
