After my annual and inspecting my engine bay, I noticed I have one of the support almost apart in 2 pieces... The other 3 are showing signs of age too... I want to change all 4.

Of course Ricambi has the Ferrari ones, but seriously, $30 a pop ???:
    https://www.ricambiamerica.com/142202-damper-support.html

McMaster has them for almost 1/20th of the price rated at 180F:
    https://www.mcmaster.com/rubber-isolators/metric-general-purpose-vibration-damping-sandwich-mounts-with-studs/

Or a 1/5th of the price rated at 300F:
    https://www.mcmaster.com/rubber-isolators/metric-extreme-temperature-vibration-damping-sandwich-mounts-with-studs/

Can someone talk me into not going the generic route? What makes the Ferrari one so specific that I'll have to pay "the tax"?

    Richard.

The only difference is that the OEM one has the metal caps on the rubber isolator and the McMaster one is slightly taller but I replaced all of my isolators (4 on the coolant tank and the ones that attach the airbox) with the McMaster ones and I haven't had any issues with fit or vibration or wear.

I bought the general purpose ones and haven't had temperature issues, so save the money.

McMaster part number 9217K35 is what I bought

I have seen those used a lot. They do not last nearly as long as OE. The end plates split off from the rubber.

I have ones from mcmaster and have lasted more than 2 years and the price of oem is just ridiculous. I support mcmaster for all my hardware needs. I bet you will never know the difference from the oem

Also be careful to not over tighten the nuts.. or you will risk damaging the rubber isolators.

No it just look like the corner gas station has been servicing the car.

I bet Mazda parts cost less. You can always drive one of those.

Don’t trigger rifle he will verbally attack.
Just leave sleeping dog lie asleep.

I’m sure the real message is lost in translation..,

Translator— “ sir you might wish to use oem parts for that oem look”. “Cheerio”

I replaced mine a little over a year ago with the McMaster part and have had no issue whatsoever.

I ordered an extra set too. Replacement is super easy - so even if I were to have to replace them every 3-4 years, it wouldn’t be a problem.

One of the few reasons it is worth spending what we spend to get one of these cars is at resale we get a very high percentage of the purchase price back. The only way that happens is by maintaining it to a high level. That is not done by substituting cheap generic parts. When I see that I have to assume everything on the car has been done on the cheap. One of the things I have done in the last 40+ years in the Ferrari business is evaluate cars for clients to buy. One repaired with hardware store parts will never get the nod.

The factory correct parts in this case can be had for about $7 if you shop around. I keep a big bag of them on the shelf.

Hi Brian, (looks like you blocked PM on your account so I'm replying here)
Thanks for your replies on my "McMaster vs. Ferrari". I am obviously interested in buying genuine dampers if I can get my hands on it for a "reasonable" price. ~$20-30 a piece is NOT reasonable.
You mentioned you have a source at $7, I've looked around but can't find them. The best I found is $13 at Eurospares (the 458 replacements, P/N 285553) but I only need that for now so shipping is prohibiting.

Would love to get a pointer for your source. I'm assuming you didn't want to post it publicly so if you can PM me, I would greatly appreciate it... Or alternatively, I'll be happy to Paypal/Venmo you $30 for a set of 4 that you can throw in an envelope if you have a "big bag"...

    Thanks again for your help...
    Richard.

Yeah the price is out there. If you wanted to make the a/market rubber blocks look OE you could always machine up metal caps for them. Bit of a PITA to machine up,nothing wrong with a/market.

At my last annual, AutoTech noticed mine were cracked and changed them for some identical Porsche ones he had, cap and all.
