I'm thinking of a 458, and find my insurance choices are pretty limited. Can folks make recommendations? Thanks
I have read of people getting quotes from Admiral at very low rates. Major concern is choice of repairer which is essential. AIB are brokers and I have used them. Locktons run the Ferrari owners club scheme (you don’t need to be a FOC member) which is currently an AXA policy. I have just moved from AIB to Locktons and saved £300. I have agreed value on my 488 for £1500. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Every everybody seems to rave about saving a few hundred £ with admiral, having just spent a few hundred thousand £ and no say in who repairs your car!! Nuts in my view. as above for sub and lockton.
Thanks all for your comments, I spoke to Locktons, and they require the car locked in a garage overnight. Aviva wouldn't insure a car over GBP 100K and they too want the car locked overnight. I have an early 911, and the 911 insurer will insure the car on the drive overnight, as one of Admiral's subsidiaries will. The Admiral price is half of my current insurer, but not sure if I want to take the risk at this point. And I'm concerned that if politics at the insurer change, they may require the car in a locked garage. Perhaps I'm a bit too concerned but a 458 is a fair amount of money.
It's been a few years since I used them, but have you tried https://www.chubb.com/uk-en/individuals-families/products/motor/high-performance-car-insurance.html?
Thanks sent a note to two of their brokers. Both want to quote my other cars and house, no problem if they are competitive with the 458. More later.
Had a quote, demanded to quote on all three cars, and were quasi competitive the 458, ridiculously high on the 911 and double my current premium on my every day car which is 13 years old.
Try Classic Insurance Services classicinsuranceservices.co.uk Extremely competitive for multi car policies, agreed values, very extensive cover. and very good on a claim when white van man obliterated my wife's daily.
Don’t know if it’s just me but I’ve never been able to find somebody who is competitive on multi car policies! Certainly would be easier , just one date to remember instead of 4, soon to be 5!
Try Elephant (part of admiral). By far the best price I found for my 458 Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I moved from Footman James to Locktons this year and I think the policy is better on a few counts but it’s also £400 cheaper on my 430. Tony
I searched high and low when I bought my F8, I even tried Ferrari's broker who apparently had special rates but the prices were ridiculous! In the end I went with my existing insurer Admiral, who insured me for £400 and yes I know about the choice of repairer etc but we can cross that bridge IF we come to it...
Thanks for all your input. I've a bit of a change of plans. I'm able to get a 550 on my drive, but not in my garage. A friend has a 308, and I understand it will go in my garage, but we have not yet tried it at this point. My leaning now is towards a 308 or 328 just so I can keep it at home, locked up when not in use. Once I get farther down the road, I'll give the insurers a call.
Email Matthew Haynes at Lockton: [email protected] Honestly the best. He’s insured over the years 2 458s, an 812 and a 488 for me. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
I use Privilege for my manual F430 spider, £340, ins for £130k Car is garaged, 2000 miles a year. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Thanks, and its a good price. My garage is small, and I'm going with either a 308 or a 328, will check Privilege for a quote.
3x8s are to old for Privilege to take on cover. For my 328GTB I use Footman James, guaranteed cover of £100k plus future market increase value during the year, 2000 miles and garaged. No tracker necessary for cover.
Thanks again, but I had a rough time with Footman James almost 20 years ago when I was car jacked, and at this point, prefer not to use them.
