The concourse de'lagance is going on here in Amelia island, I was cruising with a friend on the other side of all the traffic and slammed a gear and... pop! broke my shifter in half lol
that was an interesting drive back home!

Should I start a thread about how problematic and unreliable the gated cars are and that everyone should buy an F1? haha.

This probably happened since I literally posted a 355 review video last week about how reliable the 355 was.

This is the first I’m hearing of anyone breaking the shifter. Must’ve been doing some intense shifting there :).

Heard of a few breaking of as such on the 348 out here in posts, never of it on a 355 though.

I just told Hagerty about this and they just dropped the 30% premium for the manuals and gave it to the f1s values instead!
Maybe johnK was the first? I've always wondered how somebody could own a 355 and never floor it or go over 6,000rpm. I bet he used to and then he broke the shifter.... It changes you man

I know that sound. That can't be shifting at 8700 rpm. ;)

In all seriousness, you may want to consider repairing it if possible. Impossible to find a LHD gear lever in my experience. Or to be more precise, I recently bought the last one available on the market (to my knowledge)

Odd, is the 355 level LHD side bend different that RHD side bend or something? The lever is not straight with a backwards bend making it the same LHD or RHD?

There are 4 different shifters for the 355. 2.7 lhd and rhd, and 5.2 lhd and rhd.... sucks lol. Im just going to use duck tape. I made sure to get the "ferrari' branded yellow duct tape for it wont hurt my cars value

It would be great to know this. The RHD lever is available new from Ferrari for pennies on the dollar compared to LHD. They must be different. How different? no idea.

I haven't quite figured it out either yet but just from looking at pictures it would appear the left hand drive cars have a shifter with a bend towards the passenger side. While the UK right hand draft cars have a straight shaft.
There are also four different shifter box housing, 2.7 and 5.2 and left hand drive and right hand drive.
This is just what I've climbed from looking at pictures and parts diagrams, I believe the floor board is the same between either car yet remember that on a 355 the driver and passenger seats are asymmetrical, meaning the driver is 2 in closer to the center.
To do this while keeping the floorboard the same, the shifter box is offset different between cars as well as the center console.
Also, if you look at a right-hand drive, the buttons for the hazards and the fuel cap are on the opposite side of the shifter.
There's a Ferrari f40 shifter on eBay right now for 500 bucks yet a 355 one is 1100

    Back in business!
I was going to buy a used one when it popped up, and in the mean time, just get it welded to get back on the road. However, the weld was so good, it looks better than new!

I also think I figured out why mine broke. Some one either wore (unlikely) or grinded a notch in my shifter at the base. Why? thats beyond me, maybe they didnt know how to adjust it. any way, the notch is gone, its now a solid straight shaft at the base

Interesting it might have been notched in the past to eliminate the gear rattling against the gate.

If the craftsmanship is good then a welded part will last a lifetime & should be no concern whatsoever.
