Hi guys. Have an issue that came up yesterday on my 2005 F430 17k miles. Issue started when I placed the key in the ignition and the N was blinking instead of the usual long beep and 1 on display. I noticed the F1 gearbox failure light was on also. Car started normally. Reverse was normal and 1 & 2 gear were normal but wouldn’t let me past 2nd gear. I stopped and turned off the car and pulled the key out and gear 1 display stayed illuminated for a while after I pulled the key out which is abnormal. I started the car again and same issue persisted. This time as I rolled away the F1 failure light turned off and everything is back to normal. Shifting and driving normally. This am exact scenario. Anyone have any ideas on the situation?

Last summer car was in Ferrari of Seattle for 2 year and clutch had roughly 70% remaining. Would that have showed up? Thanks for the reply.

Has the accumulator ever been replaced? If not, I would start there, assuming the F1 pump runs normally when you open the door and turn the key on.

F1 pump sound normal when driver door opens. That part has not been replaced. I’ll look into it. Thanks.

It's not really clear from that message thread which sensor was replaced (relatively cheaply).

It could be the gearbox input shaft sensor:

Looks like a DIY fix for this particular sensor. Check the resistance before changing.

A bad or loose potentiometer will often prevent shifting past 2nd; happened on mine.

Today I started the car and no F1 gearbox failure light! I drove about 30 miles and no issues. Self fixing I guess. I’ll keep everyone posted in the next few weeks once it goes to the dealer.

Maybe your battery was an issue and now it’s all charged up?

Alfa did you ever get the f1 trans light again and if yes what did you do to fix it? Mine showed up yesterday after I stopped and opened the door the light came on for the first time and won’t let me shift past 2nd gear but the car drives well before that. Now I just started the car again and it's gone and come back on the next day?
