Someone bought the car for $80k around this time last year. Prior to that, it sat for years. I’m sure the new owner has put some money into it since. It’s a nice color on an overcast day. Seller was smart to take pics during less sunlight. Pcar auction indicates to me seller wants a high reserve. Probably around $115k is my guess.
Whats happening with the 355 market is whats been going on with the 993 Wide body C2S / C4S market lately..i specialize in Air Cooled 911's and a year ago i used to buy these C4S in the $70K range and C2S maybe $85k range, now they are selling for close to double that..in the past 2 months i've bought and sold about 12 of them...I feel so many are hitting the market all of a sudden as people are unloading them for the $$ but there are still buyers. Same seems to be happening with the 355 now..will the trend continue, no one knows... Below link is an example of the latest 98 '993 C2S (the arctic silver one with a turbo wing) just sold for $160,000 had 26k miles on it..no one would or could have predicted C2S N/A's would be fetching Turbo prices now. https://www.instagram.com/tarek_307/?hl=en As a die hard Aircooled 911 guy i would say the F355 absolutely deserves to be in the same $$ league with these Porsches...
Who else is a bit surprised that the GTS on BaT has stalled around 100k? I’ll be interested to see what happens today. Maybe because it’s silver?
It has to be the import declared mileage and ambiguous last major as the car looks fantastic. I also didn’t see any mention of the guides were done or not. $106k now all in so we’ll see what happens in 6 hours.
I think it’ll get there- a lot more manual gts buyers than cars for sale. In 2017 I looked for 6 months and saw pretty much 0 cars. The month after I bought my car berlinetta it’s twin gts showed up for 100k and sold immediately- car is worth 130+k I bet it will fetch that.
Just gonna throw it out there. If new owner of gray GTS wants to switch out to U.S spec tailights, I will be more than willing to come down and switch them with my car free of charge .
stalled? you posted this hours before auction end..no stalling ..the real serious bidding goes down last 5 mins anyways
The outer lights have an amber center. That’s pretty much it. However, if I switch them out to my car, doesn’t mean my car will start lighting up like euro-spec. I suspect it will be a dummy just there for looks. It was a dummy on my Scud just there for looks, but I like the coloration it adds to the rear. Pretty sure I’m first (perhaps only guy) in the U.S to give it a go on the F430 platform just to see what would happen. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
More like last 2 min . That’s why comments like, “It’s already at $99k with 6 days left to go (like in this case)” doesn’t mean it’s going to keep popping up gradually as the days go by.
What’s interesting to me is the current bidders for this car, for the most part, I don’t recollect their names in past bids for recent manual 355’s. I also don’t see past high bidders for 355s currently participating... unless they decide to show up last min of course. Seems like a whole new set of interested buyers.... and past high bidders who didn’t get the car have moved on??
I think it goes to show you how specific the buyer base can be. I showed up to bid a tdf 550 at a reasonable price but ignored all the red/yellow/black/gray ones. Did the same thing with a few higher mile 993 turbos. It especially makes sense red vs other colors and gts vs spider vs berlinetta.
I also thought the euro spec brake lights were different in that they didn't illuminate the entire light only part of it. And if that is the case, are they legal in the US?
I see $150,500 as final bid. $155k car. Boy was I off . And there you have it folks. Mileage no longer matters on a 355.
Ok that auction is crazy. Good for 355 but crazy 12 months ago. Who knew silver and black was so desirable. Image Unavailable, Please Login
$150,500 plus fees for a TMU car. Man, I'm old enough to remember when any 355 with more than 20K miles on it was basically a parts car.
I didn't call the way over but I did call over. I win. (and so did the seller - more than DOUBLED the asking price from just 12 months ago.)
Fireworks heading into summer? Or just a bunch bidders thinking about this 355 a lil too much over the long Memorial Day weekend?
