Hi All, Appealing to the hive mind here... A friend of mine is helping me sort through an overheating issue on my QV. Turns out it needs a new oil cooler. Anyone here know where to find one? I tried emailing Stefan who often parts out Mondial's in the EU. Waiting to hear back. In the meantime any leads very appreciated. Thanks Dave
Dave were you recording high oil temperature? Have you cleaned the actual outside of the core and flushed it? Or why do you think the oil cooler itself is bad?
The radiator got flushed out but the oil cooler fell to pieces upon removal. Still need one if anyone has leads.
Dave sorry to hear of the issues! I've been working through fuel issues on my 83qv... replaced fuel pump and this week the fuel accumulator. Hope that solves it! Good luck on yours as well.
My 83 qv yesterday was running hot as well. Went for gas when I started the car up the RPMs were reving up all on it’s own I figured it was the throttle body that got stuck bc the pervious owner didn’t drive it as much. So I shut it off and let it sit when I turned it back on it was normal. Drove it around for a few while I went to put it back in my garage it began doing the same thing. Then all of a sudden anti freeze began coming out to the hose from the reservoir I shut the car off let it cool down and it was normal again. I’m wondering if it the thermostat that is getting stuck and both of my fans kicked in. I’m wondering if it because the old owner didn’t drive it as much major service was done a year and a half ago. The throttle cables are known to get hung up on the carpet and you get high tickover, check the quadrant on the rear bank where the cable connects to see if it springs back easily, wd 40 helps
I didn’t even check all I heard was the rpms go up but while driving g it was at 210 Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Yeah I think unless you're stuck in traffic that's probably too hot. Everyone I've discussed my issue with says the temp should never really pass the mid point (195)
My fundamental belief about the radiator is - two fans need to be mounted regardless of climate where car lives; and the fuse box must function perfectly to avoid fans turning/cutting off due to faulty fuse box and overheated connections. Poorly functioning fans is something you may never observe, but the engine knows! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
