What are your thoughts of converting a F1 transmission to a gated 6? A friend of mine is having his done now. Do you think it kills the value of it doing such an extensive change to the car? The guy that is doing it has done them for many other cars before.

I think the market is yet to be tested on what a converted 599 is really worth, but here is a factory manual 599 that sold last week for nearly $700k:

    https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/am21/amelia-island/lots/r0019-2007-ferrari-599-gtb-fiorano/1029370

So what is that like a $450k premium on a comparable F1 car? Either way, its a big mark up. I think than a converted car will be an instant turn-off for a load of potential buyers, but there has to be someone out there that would see it as a much cheaper way into a manual 599, that it surely has to be worth more than an F1 car? Provided the conversion is done to the highest standard of course.

So where is your pal’s car getting converted?

the other way to look at it is on what you would be ready to put to have a manual 599. I would never put anywhere near 700K for one. But I could be tempted at lets say 250k. If you are after a gated 599 for the driving pleasure, then it is surely worth it. If you are after resale value, you probably have better/faster/easier ways to earn a 20-30k than by doing a conversion.

Aston has been converting its v12's from F1's for years now, it enhances value somewhat, although its arguable whether that vale on resale covers the conversion cost.

Is the 599 a F1 and therefore relatively easily converted using the same box, or is the box a DCT and therefore being replaced. Seems to me that if its still a ferrari box and utilzes much of whats in a factory 599 stick then were talking value enhancement. Same can be said for the 612.
It should be noted thought that a stick while fun needs to work with the engine. The 599 stick was not considered to be great in terms of motor transimission inetegration, same can be said for the 430..

F1 Ferraris use the same transaxle as their 3 pedal counterparts. Shifter and clutch actuation are different.

As Terry said, the F1 cars used the same gearbox as gated cars. The integration of transmission concern is a function of Ferrari incorrectly executing on the logic that controls the rate of RPM degradation in factory gated cars. Ferrari built the logic the right way but failed to deploy it correctly in their software. This has since been identified and remediated by our resident firmware scientist, Trevor. So that is no longer an issue.

Sounds like you have it covered.
Defintely better than the F1 599 which imo is a dog.
And one gets a real front engined v12 stick.

What can one do to make the 599 eager to turn in, and also to brake.
