    Hi all,

I am looking for an experienced Ferrari tech or shop that could perform a PPI on a 458 that I'm looking to buy in the Annapolis area.

I searched through some old threads but wanted to get a recent opinion.

    Thank you!

    1. Loudon County Exotics in Sterling, VA. Greg Miller used to work at Ferrari of Washington. 703-665-2490. www.locoexotics.com
    2. Rosso Service in Forest Hill, MD (near Baltimore). 410-638-2886. www.rossoservice.com.
    3. Competizione & Sports Cars in Gaithersburg, MD. 301-977-9484. http://www.competizionecars.com/. Richard and Fernando are very experienced Ferrari techs. However, I am not sure they do PPIs any more. There is always the potential of a hassle if the owner of a car doesn't like and disputes the PPI findings.

I had many problems trying to get a ppi done wile trying to buy a 458. Dealers all over the country won't let you take it off the lot for a ppi, also my local shops (ferrari of wash and competizione) don't do ppis. Also I had shops not wanting to get on another dealer's bad side for failing a car after ppi.

Something is off here...and it is starting to stink.

Unfortunately, they won’t do PPIs anymore for anyone other than existing customers. They also told me this week that they are backed up about 4 to 6 weeks on new jobs.

Take it to the Ferrari dealer and tell them you want a warranty inspection to see if the car qualifies for the extended power train warranty and NOT a PPI. The warranty inspection is much more detailed than any PPI and double the price.

I wouldn’t goto Loco, Rosso, or the others, they just don’t have the experience and I would have no confidence in their ability to identify 458 specific issues. They see a 458, at best, a few times a year. Take it to the dealer if you can’t goto Competizioni.

^ This is exactly what I did. The car failed the warranty inspection.

3rd time I've heard this recently. I guess the fix was too costly to repair and warranty.
