That wrap around feature is also a HP killer for number 6 and 7 cylinders. A reworked primary pipe would work wonders. The BBLM manifolds addressed that.
Always enjoy learning more about a Boxer, especially specifics and history concerning mine. It looks like Foitek Garage is the official Ferrari dealer in Zürich. Its funny that you say that as I had almost my entire arms inside the duct this past weekend at a FCA event as I was trying to explain this unique feature of the car.
How did that go? Deductions? I spoke to Frank Foitek myself when I bought the car. He explained the history to me.
It wasn’t a judging event, it was a group of FCA members getting together for a monthly meet. I didn’t realise that is where you purchased the Boxer. Did they also alter the seats with the larger bolsters?
I didn't purchase it from him directly. It was brought over by a place in Montreal and then ended up at Autoforum in Toronto which is where I got it. I wanted to buy a boxer that needed some TLC but then Tom showed me the one they had and I did a deal right away.
Last Monday I put the engine in, accessories next. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Prototype BB512 has 365 leftovers on the chassis. Where Im pointing you can see an unused tube. This is where the 365 throttle cable would pass through which took it to a bracket mounted pulley. The pulley then directed the bare cable up to another bracket where the cable sleeve would mount. The 512 bypasses this, a much simpler (and cheaper) solution. Ferrari added a tube above for the cable housing to follow and bring it up closer to the top of the engine. To the left of that unused tube is where another bracket used to be that they cut off at the factory and didn't spend much time cleaning up. It's for the clutch cable housing to mount to. It was a U shaped bracket that the cable passed through. The long tube to the left of the throttle cable is unused and had the clutch cable pass through it. Interesting stuff. Good day Eric, The search function is your friend here. Doing so you will find a thread on this already: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/boxer-dash-removal.568872 If you have any question on doing this it would be best to respond to the existing thread. Cheers, Sam
Seems you are really interested in this car..with 5 posts to your name all asking the same question. Do you want to buy it? Perhaps you know this car from the past?
Interesting timing. The car is just about finished and I believe it will go to Cavallino but we have been warned that because it's a prototype they don't know what's correct and therefore could get deductions. Its pretty much like other boxers from 76 to 78 with a few differences that shouldn't stump the judges.
Bring the research and show it to them. I kind of doubt Dick Fritz will be there and know of only one other judge still participating that is very familiar with Boxers and he is mostly a 365 BB guy. Not only that he usually judges early cars. Bring research, no one will know enough to question it. Will be an easy Platino. They might ask if its true it has a 12 cylinder engine. By the way. Who warned you? Overall model knowledge would concern me but not something that esoteric. If it goes will you be there?
This is one of the few threads that I actually subscribe to. Has it really taken 12 years to get this almost done though? Is it fully done now?
