So I did my yearly oil change yesterday. I get the car up on ramps, take off the undertray and see slow drips of coolant coming from the belts in the back. Oddly very little evidence of prior dripping on the tray. I get out my bore scope and look from above and below and still not sure the source. Water pump and heat exchanger “seem” to be ok. My question is how is this diagnosed? I’m thinking I will need to look from the access panel behind the seats.

It might only leak when hot and running. Try that yet?

You might need that panel out to fix it but I cannot imagine you need it out to find it. Do you have a pressure tester? If not it might get very difficult.

Any fluid on top of the engine will run down behind the water pump to the bottom.

I hear you suggesting that I climb up on the engine to look down better.

I only started it enough to back onto ramps. Cold before that. It stopped overnight, which prob means nothing

That is one choice. Via bore scope, mirror or whatever see if it is wet on top of the block near the front. If not it coming from the front somewhere.

If it is indeed coming from the vicinity of the belts, there are multiple possible sources very near each other. As you said, opening up the engine access panel will provide the most reliable means to assess it. It could be coming from:

-worn hoses or under tightened clamps from
    >two hoses from the expansion tank
    >two hoses to and from radiators
    >heater hose
-worn heat exchanger rubber sleeve or under tightened clamps
    -worn seal:
    >water pump housing
    >water pump

Most of those areas probably wouldn't deposit coolant in front of the belts though, it would be deposited on the block. Except for the water pump seal, heater hose, and radiator hose.

Man you are good. Upon further bore scope it looks like the thermostat housing seal. I’ll do the panel and report back in a few days

Yup. Thermostat gasket leak. $5 part and my labor. Can’t imagine that cost at the dealer
