No worries, text is often a horrible way to communicate. Difficult to convey tone/intention. Anyway, I’m excited to learn about the design/engineering direction of the LB and learn the damn name! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Exactly what he said. God knows how many times we have been told that F8 was a stopgap until F171, but whatever.
I maybe wrong in saying this, but wouldn’t the 765LT be still compared to the F8 / Pista platform - as they are both TTV8? Block, performance are very similar. Where as SF90 is hybrid (3xEVs and v8) and McLaren don’t have a similar comparative model on the road just yet?
The V8 range is still not over yet: the Roma and Portofino are still existing and we can bet the Purosangue might probably get the V8 too - even though I’m much more convinced it will get the F171 V6 engine instead. True that regarding the « small supercar » range, like the 458/488/F8, loosing the V8 is quite a huge step. But the V8 is still living in the Ferrari range on front engined cars.
Ferrari is simply splitting the mid-engined lineup into two: V8, SF90, top of the line...and V6, LB. So, no..I don't think the V6 models will replace the V8's anytime soon. About the V12, a new engine is currently under development, without any hybrid assistance. Still a few years left before its demise.
If anyone wants a new mid-engine V8 they better order a F8 soon because once production stops they will immediately switch over the line to the LB and there will be no more available.
Question is how soon will Portofino (Replacement) and Roma go to the V6? That is the Million Dollar question especially if the V6 from the LB puts out more power then is currently in those two models.
Thank you Mr. Massini, if your word is not good enough on hear, I guess there is no way to change anybody's mind.
The bigger question is "why" does everyone need to downsize? NOTE: Don't answer that. I'm in favor of new technology, lighter weight, greater efficiency, better performance (whatever that means)-- but I worry about added complexity and poor reliability (aka LaFerrari).
Bob its called a bunch of Bureaucrats in Brussels making decisions for all of Europe, without politicizing anything, maybe the Brits had a point with Brexit. Even the head of development of Porsche said an interview, that the legislation passed in real world terms will do nothing to help Emissions.
We lived through the golden age of the V12 and muscle cars. Tomorrow’s kids have to accept the golden age of the Kilowatt.
I had a Taycan 4S for three months, after the Range Anxiety, back to a nice V8 for an everyday car. Until they can get the Real World Range up, I guess a hybrid is the way to go.
I am just so looking forward to something different, something new. After having 4 versions of essentially the same vehicle I just couldn’t do the Ferrari mid engine dance anymore and skipped the F8 and bought a Roma and I am glad I did. I enjoy the simple design language and new tech, the dynamics are good and has been a reliable daily for 6 months. It gave me a new perspective and it has me excited about the continued direction of the brand in an ever changing and increasingly difficult environment. If the car looks as clean as the Roma but with the added “drama and super car flare” and even better driving characteristics of a mid engine with seamless torque fill, I am sold! Assuming the much talked about F8 VS can be officially put to bed now? I don’t see how they launch that car while trying to build hype for this new car.
