430 F430 Instrumental Cluster upgrade

If you customize your instrument cluster, be sure ANYTHING you do can be reversed or you're likely to lose a lot of potential buyers when you go to sell the car.

Most folks buying high end sports cars are looking for cars in as close to original spec as possible.

 

i want to switch out the yellow tach face to a red tach face..but all the aftermarket faces seems to only be in yellow..not red

 

Out of curiosity, can I ask why? Usually it's the other way around, so would be interested to know your reason.
Mine has the red, and I wanted the yellow one when shopping for a car, but now that I have it I'm totally happy and wouldn't change it. (and admittedly am afraid to take apart the gauge cluster)

 

Red looks more racing in my opinion

 

I like the 16M gauges but swapping doesn't seem readily available

The white one is cool but I'd take the yellow

 

Looks like there's an OEM red overlay currently available on ebay, but it's the "normal" style and not Scud/16M, if that's what you're after.
But I see what you mean, most (or all) of the aftermarket ones are yellow.

Anyone swapped the faceplates? Tricky job?

 

Did it on a Pontiac and probably similar. You just need to be careful when removing the needles. Took a few tries to get some of them correct when redoing. I would send it to Palo Alto Speedometer IMO.

 

Thank you. Anything I CAN do (safely, ie leaving it better than when I started), I prefer to do, if for no other reason than for the thrill of working on this amazing car.

 

There is a wedge tool that came with my overlay when I did the Grand Prix gauge. You then wrapped it in blue tape to not mar the surfaces. Obviously need to take the speedo all the way out.
