By the end of this decade Ferrari will be totally in a different sphere compared to where they were with LDM

Not sure what to think about this. I watched some interviews of him. He seems to be a nice guy. However I would have rather thought they go for someone who has some background in the fashion/luxury industry, given the current diversification strategy.

The biggest challenge confronting Ferrari are the existential meaning-of-life questions as the rest of the automotive world moves to electrification.

Like it or not, they are going to have to react. The lifestyle stuff makes a pile of money but it is the cart that is pulled by an automotive horse.

But Ferrari itself is a technical product So lack of tech knowledge would be a detriment IMO

Luca wasn't a tech/engineering guy either. The most important thing is to have a deep understanding of the business Ferrari is operating in.

I'm sure Mr Vigna will be bought up to speed on all that But his ability to expand into the tech world and beyond is why he got the job IMO

This is a good move as long as Vigna understands the brand-passion the stakeholders have. Like it or not, the industry is moving to greater levels of technology and that won't abate. Having someone whose expertise is in that field should serve to either continue to push the limits, or sanity check future development.

Will be definitely interesting to see what his vision for the brand will look like. Let's hope he has the right passion coming with him.

For me it's better to have a guy with technical background rather than a bling-bling specialist - they could have called back Dany Bahar otherwise ;) (remember? the one who was appointed by LdM himself to develop the selling of caps and umbrellas, before going to Lotus and dramatically failing at managing a car company...)

After this announcement my stock in Ferrari has been going down haha. It will be interesting to see the direction he takes over the next five years
