Three years ago, I changed my wires out to Kingsborne 7mm mag-wire (WSP 1306). Recently, I started having an ever increasing richness on bank 1. After standard troubleshooting, found three of my wires with infinite resistance. To ensure it was not the connections, I took the wires from the boots, and measured the resistance on the sawtooth connectors themselves, and still infinite.

Wires look great from the outside. No sing of damage on them.

Anyone ever have this experience? Why would they "degrade" like that? Is there a better way to assemble them, or tricks I am missing?

IMO the solution is to improve reliability and go with MSW cop conversion. You will not win concourse for originality but you will be a winner. Contact cribbJ to see if they are still making them.

    FatBillyBob,

Once again, thanks for your sage advice, sir. I have reached out to John. I struggle with these damn wires, so this is the move I should make.

If you ever find yourself in the NYC area, look me up. I owe you some scotch for the advice over the years!!

    Cheers,
    Chris

You will not be disappointed. MSW is OEM quality at minimum. I have run most of their products and they have all been flawless. COP is how the 550 should have come. It nicely cleans up the engine bay too.

Last I spoke with cribbJ he said they were no longer making the COP kits.

@Cribbj, I bet we could scout up three or four more clients to justify waking the elves up on the production line!! (Please say yes, please say yes, please say yes!)

Any reason why this conversion would not work on the 456 GT engine?

None, problem is John lost the guy who was doing the harnesses for him. Not sure if he found anybody else.

Yes, my harness builder suffered a stroke a few years back and that effectively put me out of business. No one else wanted to build the harnesses to my quality standard and price point, however I've recently found someone who "may" be willing to do it, and wonder of wonders he's a supplier to the F1 crowd!

I'm also dealing with a divorce that has dragged on for nearly two years and has isolated me from my tools, test equipment and my car, but hopefully it will be finished by the end of July and I can get my life back on track.

If all goes well, I'll make a new thread when the COP kits will be available again.

    John,

We PMed long ago about the COP for 456Ms. Count me in if you sell COP for the 456M. BTW, the MSW steering ECU for the 456M is still in since day 1 received. A real treat.

Thanks guys for all the kind words! I'm looking forward to getting plugged back into the community, assuming my soon-to-be-ex doesn't clean me out and I'm sleeping under an overpass, LOL!

Just bumping this thread in the hope to hear back from John. Has anyone heard from him lately? Am I the only one hoping for MSW upgrades to be available again?

I’d also be interested in a cop conversion for 456. Just saying.

Keep me on the list as well (thread subscribed).

My 550 already has a set but I’m a weirdo that would buy a spare because with any luck I plan on owning my car for more than 20 more years.

That's quite strange to have 3 wires go like that. All on the same side? Does the resistance change if you wiggle the wire? It might be worth trying to strip one of the wires to find the break?

When I changed all of my leads I used Beru 7mm cable without issues so far.
