    If you read the article, you’ll see that this is a significant development on the work done back then.

    Electric cars were around 100 years ago. Then they disappeared. Is it wrong to revisit them now?

    I read the article, interesting the second stage is stator only, unlike the previous versions which were both driven contra rotating with an assymmetric reduction, amazing stuff. The best thing that can happen to aviation emissions is to quadruple the cost of the air tickets. Since bogans have been able to fly to Bali cheap, it's all been downhill since then.

    As for electric cars, well, the whole electric thing is heavily politicised like "climate change" it's very difficult to separate fact from hysterics. Let's see in 20 years how the grid is coping charging them all with coal. I think it's important to revisit any propulsive technology since manufacturing costs and design are effectively cheaper than they've ever been.

    At least with aviation it's heavily science based, for now.....
