I’m starting to look and I can’t find any Daytonas for sale.

    Any thoughts?

For the cars that no one seems to want (at least at the prices being asked)...:)

    http://www.finecars.cc/

Since the site is almost 100% dealers on the vintage-end of things, and since dealers are fully aware of what they are in possession of, the askings are all on the "top dollar" end (for the quality of the particular example).

Sadly, same can pretty much be said of The Ferrari Market Letter these days, though I continue to really like the folks that run FML, and subscribe in order to support them.

    Hi,

I could find several (no affiliations) here: https://www.classicdriver.com

But most do not have the price, one LHD 1970 Plexiglass for a bit over €500k euros and a RHD 1971 Plexiglass for €700k euros. Two more Plexiglasses, a 1971 in France asking €725k euros and another 1970 in Switzerland asking €650k euros. But yes, none at the moment from USA. Cheers!

(admins: move this to the Vintage Ferrari Market?)

Matt at Avant Garde Collection had a nice burgundy driver quality Daytona for a long time. I don't see it on his website any more, so I don't know if it sold or the owner decided to hang on to it. It no-saled on BaT. You might call him (you can get his contact info from Google).

Also, do you have a subscription to FML? There is one in there right now-- typically there are more.

In past 15+ years or whenever I've looked, including recently, I've always been able to find at least 2 dozen or more available within a day or two.

Huge variations on quality vs. price AND quality vs. value seems also always present, regardless of what "market" perceptions and/or silly "price guides" (or auction "results") indicate, but that obviously applies to all older, used, vintage cars (including exotics) or has at least past 4+ decades I've been around and involved with them.

    Yup.
If there was a COVID Daytona distress sale to be had, the car was sold at auction.
Auction no-sales and dealers are astute to not let their price drop now. The economy is just starting to get back up to speed.

I've observed good Daytonas are finding more long-term homes, not flipping the way they used to.
And like the blue car Curated has, it will be difficult to find one under 650. The future market will be interesting.

The red Daytona at RM at Amelia sold for $550 all in. It was a nice car with recent restoration work totaling $50k

I think that was a good deal overall, IMO.

Just out of curiosity, what do you think made it “a good deal overall” and for whom ?
For the buyer, seller, house or… ?

From what I see, Lake Forest asks $689k for one which, according to comments above, needs some work.
The one at RM was a 2 grade, according to SCM magazine.
At $550, that one seemed to be a decent buy, especially with recent receipts of $50k or so.
I do not think an equal one can be bought today much cheaper than $550.

    Just my opinion here
