Hi, so the temp yesterday was 90 outside. I was driving my testarossa for an hour. water temp was a tick over the middle marker and engine oil temp was pegged at the center. After I got home I went to pop open the engine deck Luis and man, this thing was HOT... I know my cats are basically right there below the decklid where you kind of lift it up up from. I guess this is normal, but never experienced this before in the folder months.

They are real garage heaters. At the dealer we hated working on them on hot summer days.

I was once showing a new guy how to do a start to finish fuel injection set up on one on a 100 degree day. When we were done we were both soaking wet.

Same issue on a Boxer. After a drive, I typically open the rear deck lid to help cool things down.

Right after a shut down, forced air circulation stops and under hood temps spike. Plastics & rubber gets prematurely old. Best thing you can do is to fully open the lid at each stop.

but at a le mans start you not have to close the hood before jumping into the car

If you have factory cats - then it's gets pretty hot. Swapping them out might be a viable alternative if your state allows it.

Almost 37 years around Testarossas has taught me that you are correct. :)
