My first attempt at a Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza. Started by reducing some homemade pizza sauce I had made previously and froze. Image Unavailable, Please Login Rolled out my dough, adding some cornmeal to what would be the bottom of the pie. Image Unavailable, Please Login Flipped it into the skillet... Topped with sauce with a little Parm. Image Unavailable, Please Login Into the oven. Preheat to 500º then reduced to 425º for 25 minutes. Image Unavailable, Please Login Turned out a little wet... Image Unavailable, Please Login But still delicious! Image Unavailable, Please Login In retrospect I'd not use the tomatoes right out of the can. I'd add them to the sauce and reduce everything. I'd also give it 5 more minutes in the oven.
Really fun drive today. Almost no traffic on back roads. Stopped for ice cream. Vanilla and chocolate. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Did lunch at The Beach House today in Phoenix. Tasty. I think someone here recommended it? I had a shrimp taco and a grilled fish taco. Very tasty and great spicy hot sauce. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yumbo! Speaking of turkey sammiches, while driving the California home from Boardwalk Ferrari, I stumbled across an outpost of Caprioti's! I gotta get my s**t together and head over there and order a Bobbie - TG dinner on a bun! T
I miss capriotis, there was one a mile from my place in old town Scottsdale. My favorite was the caprastami.
Image Unavailable, Please Login Hand prepared falafel. Not a boxed falafel mix. All prepared with fresh produce. Wife put together another awesome lunch. She prepared everything from scratch - aside from the olives and pita bread. Falafel is prepared with chick peas (dry and sitting in a bowl with water overnight), ground coriander, cumin + some baking powder and black pepper. In the past she has baked pita bread and it was good. We even picked olives from the trees while we were in Israel and it was also excellent. The olives sat in jars for almost a year. With fresh olives some years are better than others. Thanks dear.
" while driving the California home from Boardwalk Ferrari" ***** I read that at first as "while driving to California from Boardwalk Ferrari".....Brought back a memory of oil change at Boardwalk then on to San Diego....go for it!
Lol. I am nowhere near the road warrior you are! I put the miles on my Cali in 100 mile or so increments. 30 K in sight, 70+K and I'll be catching up to you! T
Made a pepperoni and ham pizza on the stone on the grill. I used Vodka Sauce as my base. I like it; a bit sweeter, less bitter than the usual. My grill will only do 600º so I finish it under the broiler. Image Unavailable, Please Login
