I haven’t seen a briefcase in a long time. I had several nice ones, finally tossed them 2-3 years ago. The classic wingtip is still my favorite style. Nice shoes.
Thank you! I still have the two hard side LV cases, and don’t think I’ll ever ditch them. I have to say that I can get used to wearing the shoes. They’re the most comfortable pair I’ve ever owned. JK
Did you book an appointment in the US? If so, how was the experience? Also, are those the Hatcher model?
Yes, I did. I met them in Chicago, and it was a great experience. George was very helpful, and it was amazing for me to see the shoes he brought on the trip. The material selection, including linings was a fun exercise. The process of fitting was interesting and seemed very Victorian. Wooden and brass measuring sticks, standing on the paper book and tracing the feet. I ordered them in October of last year when he was here, did the trial fit in May, and they just arrived yesterday. I ordered three pair from them, with these being the first delivered. This style is the Crescent, of which I ordered a second pair in brown. The third pair are basically the Cheshire, in green. The remaining two pair should be here by August. I don’t offer too many recommendations, but I can HIGHLY recommend these. JK
From the website, it looks like $3k for the fitting and creation of the lasts, and which I believe includes one pair of shoes. Additional pairs are then priced on an individual basis. This was just from what I read on their website: https://www.georgecleverley.com/ Well worth the $$, at least IMHO.
Made an appointment for both myself and my son. Thanks for your post, don’t travel to the UK and always seem to miss the travel dates. Have a favorite tailor that travels on occasion? I have a local Italian one, but looking for something more conservative.
Excellent! I hope you like them as much as I do. Typically just use one of the local tailors (Daniel George). I’ve used him since he opened. Not full bespoke, but I like the styles and fabrics. Plus I’m less likely to throw the full bespoke cash for a suit. Given the number of metal shop and foundry tours I’ve found myself on in my career it just seems ill advised. The GCs could stay in the car in favor of steel toes, but I don’t usually have safety pants. JK
