Hey, I tried buddy but there really wasn't any regarding the trucks arriving, logistical quagmire all over the place, Safety car and medical car arriving, so on and so on. Trust me, I would have posted but at this race it's been sorta quiet.
No worries. You're always doing us all such a big favor with those wonderful pictures that we get used to them and when they're not there, we're missing something. At least that's how I feel. As the Germans say: Vorfreude ist die schoenste Freude. Or was that about Schadenfreude?
Must admit any of us were this would look like trolls… so does he, but he is famous so it works! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That was a looooooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago...before "Loi Evin" so 1992 I guess. (And our dads and grandads bought Gauloises and Gitanes, but I'm now 61...) Rgds
For the record even though I have never smoked anything the proper spelling is Gitanes (which means gypsy women) and Gauloises (which means women from ancient Gaul or a Gallic product). And yes Jacques Laffite winning a few GP's in Ligiers with those beautiful liveries was an iconic time for French motorsport. He is a very cool cat and popular figure, I interviewed him by phone and later sat down with him at Retromobile, very nice, no airs.
Thanks for the spelling correction, it’s been a while since I saw either logo, and 40 years since I smoked either brand. And yes, smoking is BAD, but at age 21, sat outside a Paris Street cafe, smoking a Gitanes, It felt great. As did driving to Le Mans in 1972 911 and seeing those logos painted on the side of roadside buildings. La Belle France.
The current heatwave in France does no encourage a lot of activity other than seeking shade and AC. I have tested three cars for articles there in recent years, been there for Saturday qualifying in 86, visited a Renault race weekend in September 2014 and can confirm the location is brutally hot.
