Great qualifying!! If the Mercedes are faster on mediums it would appear it’s their races to lose?

I would think Toto will ask about Turn 2 and gaining advantage etc with Max.

No matter it was all Max this session. He will do well but the question is the hard tire pace over a long stint tomorrow.

Wow Max showing why he is the fastest man in F1. The MB still marginally better, particularly on tire wear IMHO.

. Is it time to admit Red Bull is the better car? Red Bull much better in Monaco, better in Baku and now here. Based on the seven races I’ve seen, Red Bull appears to be the car in control with Merc trying to figure out how to close the gap. It’s close, mind you, but Red Bull is far more confident with their package while Merc is still trying to solve for some issues.

Yep, the Red Bull is better. The title is for Verstappen to lose this year

not sure about that. You need to put Monaco and Baku aside as they were anomalies. How many more poles will Ferrari get this season? Charles a full second behind Max today. My point is that the circuits will favor the different characteristics of the car. Max outqualified Sergio by almost half a second so he’s really bringing it.

Agree. On typical tracks mercedes had thr upper hand where it mattered.

I guy expected a merc pole and runaway here and was hoping for max to just be close. Race still has to happen of course but I'm surprised by the pole. Recent upgrades made explain this imo.

Would love to be a fly on the wall in Totos motorhome now. Bitching to the FIA about the flex wings, pit equipment and everything else and no pole on a track where he should...hehe

Sergio is learning the car still, but improving greatly of late. Looking much better than his predecessors, especially on race day. Max clearly loves the car,

Red Bull has been better on 5 of 7 circuits this year so far. It’s a long season still, but by this point we can identify trends. Street circuits are no comp. Higher-speed “handling” circuits (change of direction curves) slight advantage to RBR. Traditional circuit layouts (straits & curves) favor Merc.

So it looks like bottas was forced to give Lewis a tow again this weekend. What happened to "team equality" and merc always swapping every weekend?
