Brutally honest owners such as myself will say even more than that. It's a 90s Nissan inside and out and they are now overpriced and overrated. I dreamt of a 355 and never of a 34. Ended up with one because the right car just presented itself at the right time.

To make them drive well, you need to modify them. That market is what the car is really about and the aftermarket support is huge. It's almost too easy to improve it but perhaps that's where the charm of the car is. At odds with what a lot of collectors do though which is horde stock cars and keep them hidden away.

Although the R34 GTR should not even be in this discussion, it's a completely different market for very different people. They probably want the potential for power and nostalgia all in one package with a healthy splash of cult heroism? And that's just RHD markets which had access to these cars since the 2000s. In the US there's the extra factor of forbidden fruit which also drives up the prices. I dare say someone who pays $300k for a stock one is going to be very disappointed in what they are actually getting. Maybe after another $50k-$100k to get the horsepower up to between 700-1000 then it might meet expectations.

Having said that, objectively the build quality is excellent and reliability is quite good as long as you keep the modifications to a reasonable level. Many are happy to pay for an overbuilt platform and the latent abilities to handle 4x the factory hosepower much like the mk4 Supra can. Not many cars are in that category. I did have a 900WHP R33 GTR in full street trim for a few years and it's really something else unlike many other 90s cars, it could put really that power down. Was a pig to drive off boost and the regular gearbox rebuilds got boring quick.

    Absolutely.

Tunercult is playing a different sport than the rest of us. They have a niche and they know the numbers they pulled on their last R34 raffle. Might generate half a mil or more in merch profits so they’ll easily cover the price they paid for the car.

Most of the merch is fugly as hell too. Could generate more revenues if they got a better designer. I had to skim through the site a few times just to pick out something decent I would wear. Bought a “Save the Manuals” shirt :). The rest of the stuff, you couldn’t pay me to wear.

I just listed the reasons in my comment. After looking at probably a thousand different 355s over the years I can spot signs within a few seconds.

Well said! I have built and driven tons of R32-34 GT-Rs and your comments are spot on. I have only driven one 355 but that memory will never leave me.

This car is absolutely magnificent! Impossibly clean! It did not occur to me to have the skid plates and underside panels buffed out to new condition but seeing my girl up on the lift has me thinking.

Pcar ad has about 10,00o views. The last GTS recently sold on BAT has 23,000 views. Just a data point.

I see the peanut gallery is getting a bit heated last min :).

A red/tan 15k mile manual coupe (in the U.S) comes around once every few years if potential buyers want to wait it out.

Fun watching it go rounds with the 993 4s with same miles and ending time :)

The crazies are coming out on PCar, $165,00 for the GTS.

    I've always said, "That 355 is 1 60k car. :)

So a dealer decides to undersell an off color GTS for $130k before it could even get to market and realize true value, but bidders want to use that as a valid data point to justify saying a red/tan (arguably most desirable 355 combo) 355 above $130k is too high???

I’m all for free speech, but non sense commentary. Context matters. Nice try though :).

Says sold. So the seller got at least what he wanted, and it wasn't $200,000. :p:D

$170k. Dot that. Not the number I was expecting, but then again, Summer just started :).

Very unlikely a better car will come around anytime soon to drive data points higher.

    Factory Aero.
Rare green interior with rare accessories and hardback seats ($10k value).

A more special car with rare goodies fetching $40k more. Sounds about right :).

Did this car have the valves and headers done? If not add 30k to the 170k.

For 993's, factory aero = factory ugly

It's like they were trying to ruin the lines of that car.

Seller has a blue chip 355 and he chooses Pcar over BAT. Smh.
