Im sorry they lost my on the styling Looks very soft and muted! 488/812 last of the good looking f cars Call me stupid but a lot about these cars is the engine Now v6 hybrid, yes we all saw it coming but really every brand is going to have a v6 hybrid
What’s the depreciation time frame here - I’m thinking of a $296 bet it won’t lose more than 15% in two years.
The cars don't hit 40% depreciation in the first 2 years of release no matter what they are. The F8/812 held much better, the FF/Cali not so well. Porto numbers skewed because they hit 2-3 year mark during this asset runup. My guess the Roma will be somewhere in-between. Who knows where the 296 will be on the depreciation curve, my guess in-between like the Roma too. My point is the 430 will depreciate less the next 4-5 years vs. the 296.
I agree with a lot of the comments about the car and the design as well as the hybrid motor. I’m sure with the electric boost it will feel very fast off the line. I think the rear end has some flavor of the 246 rear quarter and dare I say the Tdf sans the vents. I do kind of like the curves myself. I am looking forward to hearing the car as that was one of the features that they highlighted in several of their videos. It seems like they heard the complaints of the turbo charged car owners compared to the naturally aspirated cars and tried to fix that.
I cant quite decide what I think. I find myself really liking it then see it at a certain angle and don’t like it so much. It will surely be really quick though. Can’t get over those bulky side mirror stalks though - how could they get those so right on the Porto and so wrong on the 296. The real question is what will it sound like IRL. Anyone know what color the debut car is? Rosso Fiorano? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I don't give a crap about "peak performance" or besting another car. I'm not going to track it. How it feels in my gut and in my hands and in my head is all that matters. You go on a rollercoaster and its a thrill. Does anyone care the fastest you went is 40 MPH? I can drive a classic car that goes 0-60 in 8 seconds and think the car is amazing. Drive a 250 Lusso or a 246 Dino and tell me its "boring". Speed isn't the only factor when if you get caught going 100 MPH on city streets in most parts of America you'll end up in jail if caught. All this money to get a 0-60 time of 2.9 sec. Well, a Corvette C8 routinely does that and has been documented (by an Fchatter here) going 2.7. That's a car that out the door could cost you about 70 grand. Who cares? Fast is fast. Fun and emotion is much more important.
I just have to laugh at the people who lament the style or now even the end of Ferrari. Really? Really? Get a grip. No design is going to be acceptable to every idiot on the planet. If you like it and want it, buy it, if you don't, move on to the next model or next manufacturer. Good Grief!
This car looks completely amazing to me in every way, styling, finish, interior, just plain OMG. If only they offered a gated model!!!!
Why would you have a window in the back to show everyone you only have a V6? Does this mean the F8 has a shorter life than most models?
Look at how successful Ford has been with the V6 in the New Ford GT (and in F150s). And many a Ford customer is used to a high HP, high torque V8. No reason that folks won't flock to the 296 if it really is a hoot to drive. Let's review; they focused on sound, acceleration and go cart handling, then they wove a bunch of historical Ferrari design elements into a pretty clean looking new car, and you have the luxury, tech laden interior and a track package if you like. That spells orders coming to me. They said this is not replacement (for the F8). The F8 is an unusual case where the 488 refresh was large in scope and they re-branded the car. Looking forward to the next toy the mad scientists in Maranello have to offer.
This 296 GTB is a transposition to our era of Dino 246GT. The Dino 246 GT was inspired by 250LM too. This is a great looking, powerful, brand new and emotional Ferrari. Pure italian design and prancing horse heritage: McLaren and Porsche won't ever have it, whatever excellent cars they build. Who does still want to buy an Artura, after seeing this "Dino" 296GTB? Not many, in my opinion. Ciao
uggg design wise just no no more turbos but we still have huge side scoops that don't flow at all with the fastback roof or rear haunches rear is a mish mash of a Dodge Challenger and Charger... 2 of the most hated vehicles in Atlanta due to their inevitable involvement with some type of criminal activity front is ok but looks too Japanese-y for me interior no more analog tachs, all haptic touchscreen buttons on wheel... no thank you! i think the Roma exterior design is much better than this thing, and the Roma looks like an Aston Martin. This looks more like a smoothed out Corvette C8.
