    Agreed.

    ..and I can't think of anything in the roof system that would be reset by rebooting the alarm. Apart from both systems using the door open switches and battery and key power, the two systems are basically independent.

    might be the car then you have to restart. If the roof electronics are locked you will get the beep when trying to move roof and then it is stuck until you reset.

    Usually the roof beeps if something is not in the right position (or the roof ECU is missing power from the instrument fuse). I was thinking that any configuration fault (switches and sensors not in the right position) would be immediately reset if the switch/sensor moved to the right position. You're saying that the system has a permanent lockout only reset by power?

    The car showed up from Curated with no tools or manuals. Barton looked around and found this tool box.

    1) is this proper box and contents for my 1999 Spider?

    2) these tools weren’t “numbers matching” were they?

    3) what other tools missing, Barton mentioned a tow bar?

    4) what all do you need for a complete manual set?

    2. Tools aren't numbers matching.
    3. The tow loop is the big silver thing with the threaded end.

    5. black handles should be correct for you. Amber/orange handles were early 348.

    That looks about right from my recollection. There's basically two sets in 348/355 world. The short kit and the tall one. That's the tall one.

    1999 would have had the lower profile tool kit. While that is a F355 tool kit going by the tray contents, it is normally found in the 1995 F355.

    Rob, your tool kit looks near 100% to me. Going back to your roof. With mine, I have to do something I learned here, on the website, 3-4 years ago. I guess one of the horizontal roof support bars can get a bit bent. So, normally with the car running, ebrake on, front released: I pull the roof back manually until it beeps, just 6-12 inches. Now I use the button to make it go back using the motors. But here is where I do something extra, while holding the roof button for it to retract, I have to push up !gently! on one of the horizontal bars above my head. I’ll try to find the link. But to give you an idea, with the roof having just beeped, the bar I push is, I think, directly overhead, but a little back toward the rear of the car.
    For me, that made all the difference, and my roof operates well besides that. I know it’s a bit…annoying, but it works. I haven’t every had to do the alarm cycling you’re talking about, and I wonder if you might have my problem.

    Ken was inferring that the 1st pic in your post is a short kit but also for a 348 not 355. Which is different from the second kit in your post (also short) for the F355 - post 1995.

    I'm getting a little more experience each time. Tonight after dinner I started putting the top down, it kept giving me the 4 beeps that it wasn't going to do anything. I just had to help it with my hands a little and it was all good.

    Are you getting the multiple beeps before or after toggling the roof switch?

    Are you getting the single beep just pulling back on the roof (before touching the toggle switch)?

    Make sure that the microswitch roller arm in the top rear left hand corner of the roof is not mangled or that the microswitch is not loose.
