Greetings all. My 2008 Scud is making this whining noise coming from the dash area. It seems like it is getting progressively worse. It makes the noise whether the car is on or off. Any ideas on what is causing it or how to get rid of it? Thanks in advance!

This sound is right up there with Lloyd's version! :) Ruining the great sound of the Scud engine and exhaust so need to figure out what is causing it.

Sounds/seems like a "low oil pressure warning" buzzer. With the key "on" and the engine not running (and the red warning light "on" in the oil pressure gauge) = it makes sense for it to sound the alarm (as, typically, the low oil pressure warning buzzer is activated by the same signal that turns on the red warning light in the gauge, but I'm not familiar with your model). The red warning light in the oil pressure gauge isn't "on" with the engine running, but your oil pressure gauge reading only ~12 psi at idle seems really low. Does the oil pressure gauge needle go up with RPM?

Yes, oil pressure goes up when RPMs go up. I would think if it was a oil pressure warning signal I would get an oil light or it would not show the "ok" to start if there was an oil pressure issue. This is my 1st Fcar so all new to me so appreciate the input that it could be an oil pressure issue. I recently had a reputable shop do the annual oil change, it was making the sound before and after. Weird thing it is intermittent also, sometimes it makes it, other times not. Sometimes no so loud, lately it seems more often and louder than before.

Obviously electrical. Are you able to disconnect any wires behind the dash. Do one at a time and see if you can locate the source.
Otherwise a tube with your ear on one end and move it around the area you think the noise is coming from.

That's a good thing ;). Usually the OM will say something like "at X RPM warm, the oil pressure gauge should read Y psi minimum" so you might check for that, but that super low reading at idle would still freak me out (it's not unheard of for an oil filter element to collapse and restrict the output pressure). Not sure about your comment of an "ok to start" message being meaningful as the oil pressure is always zero before starting. The OM might also have some information about what systems have noisemakers. Good Hunting!
