Anyone planning on attending the SAHLEN'S SIX HOURS OF THE GLEN June 24 - 27, 2021 I'm hoping the weather is good so I can take my 612. Cheers Anthony
The International Motor Racing Research Center is a nice take when you are at the Glen. As a former racer, I visited for the first time, and was blown away that they even had data on me. I found there archives fascinating. I was even asked to consider them for any donation of my racing memorial from days past. One super cool program was from the 1955 Sports car races at Beverly, MA airport. Phil Hill and Carol Shelby participated in 55 and 56. Image Unavailable, Please Login
No Ferrari competition on the track but a couple in the parking areas. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Went to grad school at Cornell, visited the Glen many times and saw the last F1 race there (early 80s). I had a 240z and was driving around one day - found an open gate at the track, which I drove on until someone kicked me off, lol. Very pleasant memories of the Finger Lakes.
Corning Museum of glass is nearby, well worth the visit. And a drink at the seneca lodge bar is a must for racing fans.
A $2 dollar bill or $1 coin for change. I like to stay there too, but if traveling with the faier sex it may be a bit too ropey, although the "new" cabins are pretty goodf.. Enjoy.
If/when you go to Watkins Glen, be ready for any weather. Cold at night (even in the summer), sun comes up gets hot. Then it rains, gets cold again. Sun comes back out, gets hot again, etc. Never saw such changeable weather in one day in my life. BHW
I have, 1996 Daytona 24 hours along with a few other years. Always thought they should flip flop the Daytona 24 and Sebring 12 hour dates around as the cold fronts fizzles out around central florida just south of Orlando most of the time.
