    There is a pretty complex ECU relearn feature for the 360...

    and some even say you should also "Cycle the gas pedal all the way to the floor slowly a couple of times before you start it. It makes a lot of sense because I never floor that pedal and it is electronic"

    For the 430, the manual simply states the following;

    After removing the battery from the vehicle or disconnecting it from the electric system by means of the special switch, when reconnecting and before proceeding with starting the engine wait at least 10 seconds with the ignition key in position II to allow the electronic system that controls the motor-driven valves to run the self-learning procedure. Wait for the vehicle to reach the running speed so that the system can learn all the necessary functions.

    So for the 430 should we do the 360's complex procedure or just follow the actual F430 owners manual?

    I've done the relearn procedure both ways and I can't tell a difference between either method in my F430. I think the ECUs are continuously adjusting things according to ambient parameters. Just my opinion and anecdotal experience.

    I have had my 430 for 7 years with a few flat or new batteries. I just charge it up or fit new battery- switch it on for a couple minutes and start it up. No different to any other car from my experience

    Correct Self Learning Start Up Procedure:

    Cycle the main power switch, wait 15/20 sec.

    Switch off A/C, fan, lights, radio etc.

    Cycle the ignition in position II, wait 15/20 sec.

    Start the engine and let it idle for min. 10/15 minutes. Don't switch on any electric devices during idling. Best is to wait until you hear the cooling fans start.

    Or if you can force yourself to open the" Owners Manual", turn to pages 101 & 102 and you will find the following...........

    Boot Up Procedure

    After removing the battery from the vehicle or disconnecting it from the electric system by means of the special switch, when reconnecting and before proceeding with starting the engine wait at least 10 seconds with the ignition key in position II to allow the electronic system that controls themotor-driven valves to run the self-learning procedure.

    Wait for the vehicle to reach the running speed so that the system can learn all the necessary functions.

    To reconnect the battery to the electrical system insert the control lever in the switch and turn it clockwise until it stops.

    The self-learning process for the Motronic ECU's works properly when the intake air temperature is between 5 and 100°C (41 and 212 °F), hence always check that the outside temperature falls within these values before carrying out this operation.
