We are fans of Pol Roger, if only because my wife’s family lived opposite them at 47 Ave de Champagne. We usually drink the regular Brut Reserve but recently it was not available and we bought a more expensive Pure Extra Brut. We have yet to try it...it is “ non dosée”. Do you know this one?

Yes, I do know of it but have not seen it for ages. I'll check with my guy here in Raleigh who can find it if available in North Carolina. It's Non-vintage, correct?

Saw a new Champagne at Whole Foods that was a Prime special at $ 8.00 off. Thought I'd try it. Jacques Bardelot is a Brut NV 50% PN, 30% Meunier and 20% Chard. Clean, refreshing, pale and lively. Subtle fruits - apple and pear. Not complex, just a nice easy aperitif. This is a distributor's blended wine, could just be some guys stuck with a bunch of juice they couldn't sell to a big house. This was a steal at a net price around $30. My guess is Whole Foods bought all of this for import.

We tried a bottle tonight.....”non dosée” means no sweetener. It is crisp and dry and we really recommend.

The L-P Rose is always an enjoyable bottle at a fair price.

We just opened a Laurent-Perrier Ultra Brute yesterday. I don’t recall trying it in the past, but it was quite nice.

Also recently we tried the Andre Clouet Brut Nature. I really like the non-dosage NVs. I’ll have to start looking for more to try.

Had some Moët Nectar Impérial a couple of weeks ago. I think it's going to become my new favourite. Very unique taste, smokey in a way.

Hi everyone. I started this Champagne thread but I need your expertise on U.S. sparkling wine. I serve only U.S. wines at Thanksgiving. I rarely drink U.S. sparklers. What can you recommend? My wine guy likes Paula Kornell, tried it, not for me. I like the austere, dry, very crisp style, not the big yeasty, bread toast bottles. Also open to Rose domestic sparklers. Thanks, Keith

Hi Teg and thanks. I've had the Roederer tete de cuvee and the Schramsburg. Have not tried Mumm prestige or Carneros Le Rive. Have had other Dom. Carneros sparklers.

My wine guy recommended something different for me. A Cava from Los Cupages de Mestres. I took a bottle each of the rose and the regular bottling which we tried last night. This winery has been around since the 1300's. We have the Reserva 2017. This wine spends 24 months on the lees. The blanc was VERY dry, an austere style that I enjoy. Good flavor profile with peach and almond. At under $ 30, this is a good value. We drink real Champagne almost exclusively but this bottle was quite good and worth a try.

Just tried a bottle of Laurent-Perrier "La Cuvee" brut.

Very crisp, great acid, but balanced. Perfect bubbles.

For a large house wine, I thought this was fantastic (didn't attempt to check the disgorgement date, not even sure if they put it on the bottle or not. Ordered more anyways...)
