You have it all wrong Nibblesworth. I have no hate at all for you. I've never met you and can never hate someone I don't know, even if they do seem to have a different perspective on life than me. I believe you are getting your kicks at my expense and that is just fine with me. If I cared about what someone, who has never met me said about me, I would never sleep. Fortunately, you mean nothing to me and neither does anything you have said. Don't give yourself so much credit. I have a real life off the Internet and F-Chat. And, I don't feel very old at 51. Can still carry my own water in many ways. Never underestimate us old guys. We just may know some tricks you haven't even see yet. I taught martial arts for over 30 years and the one guy who I never even thought of trying out was a 72-year-old master. I've been in a war, marriage, kids, cars, companies and more than a few battles. Anything you say is meaningless to me. You seem to take yourself way too seriously if you think you have an impact on me. I just shut you off. You see, if you really knew how little others think about you, you wouldn't be so concerned what they think! It is a philosophy that I learned long ago, and one that has served me well. Heck, if we met in real life... well, probably not. See ya.
I got a 90 somethingon mine it qualed me for any job I wanted pretty much but I still went with Infantry. Some MOS require you to have a good score to have that MOS (military occupational specialty aka your job)
100's on the ASVAB mean you did the best or tied for best in your 'class'. There are 4 categories that you score 1-100 in, Electrical, Mechanical, Admin, and General. The 5th score that everyone touts is how well you did in comparison to the batch of people you tested with. I scored a 96 on mine but my scores were actually lower than that, being 82, 82, 54, 94 respectively. From a public education with a 1.9GPA graduating GPA out of Van Nuys, CA they were impressed. These scores determine what jobs you qualify for, they will take the best score you can produce. If you score all 100's, you have to show me the money. Err paperwork. Sunny
Well technically only a moron wouldnt come equipped properly to a fight. Honest or not whatever it takes to have the upper hand is what you should do. Your statement is quite a noble one though and I respect that
Sunny, I have no way to show you, but I remember the test very distinctly. I'm certain I answered every question correctly.
The only real hard part of the whole thing for me was the timed math portion. I always like to double or triple check my stuff to make sure its all right. The rest was just easy stuff about like electrical wiring and other basic high school shop class questions, and little bit of grammar
We all slip. Yes, most of us have slipped once like this in our lives. If you can't admit that you have felt, said, or thought what Carbon has, then you have an unbelievable red cell count with your head in the clouds. Where I grew up, you stuck up for yourself, period. The manner of how and where was of no importance. If you expected anything beyond that, thats your own fault. There will be no band-aids handed out for your sensibilities. You can institute rules so there are 'punishments' and lets leave it at that. While taking the high road, sometimes you take a wrong turn and you have to backtrack. Just wait, you'll get yours. Sunny
Usually it's the moron who can't recognize he's gotten/getting himself into a helpless situation to begin with.
At first, no, i didn't get it... i had to sit here a for a few minutes and think about it first... Now that i understand what you're saying, the only thing i can think of is: why is it dishonest to bring brass knuckles, ESPECIALLY if the odds are so high...?
Very nice rebuttal. As that is true, sometimes things just happen though and before you know it and your in over your head. Sometimes things are just a lose lose situation.
Look. This isn't my soapbox hour, and you shouldn't take it like that, but since you asked, here's my "perspective." Like I said, defending yourself isn't just about beating your "opponent" into oblivion; sometimes it's about disarming them; incidentally, brass knuckles make a huge mess, and if you don't properly shape the eylets for your fingers, you end up hurt as bad as the people you're defending yourself against. I think what everyone here is trying to convey is that you've tarnished the image that you present, and the more you try to justify what you did, the more people point out that you did it to yourself; just like with the brass knuckle analogy -- the guy you beat senselss could have just raped your wife, but some people will only remember that you used brass knuckles on him, and not your valiant attempt at self-preservation. Some fights, aren't worth winning; much less fighting.
i honestly thought it was, but thanks for clearing that up... As for your elaboration on the whole brass knuckles thing, i understand what you're saying now... Ok, yeah, you're right, i tarnished the "image" i managed to erect, but... ah, forget the but; you're right.
Just thought I would do a quick analysis of all threads posted since Noon CST today. I think it shows that a few of you are in la la land that #1 Things really were better in the old days with some of those users around. #2 The quality of topics here is not high or at least not as high as it use to be. There have been 37 new threads posted today since Noon CST. 17 General Ferrari threads with a general model questions or pics/info on a Ferrari event. 6 Ferrari technical questions. 5 Ferrari racing related threads. 5 Off topic threads, but car related (2 of them still Italian car related). 4 Off topic threads that weren't car related. I have to say out of 37 threads that almost all of them seemed to be quality and worthwhile. There were a couple double posts where someone would post something regionally and then repost in a main category. I usually don't mind that too much. Out of all 37 threads the only one I was like "???", but then again it doesn't really bother me is the "Enron Corp Disclosure Statement in CD format !!" in Off Topic. [Toggle Texas Ass Kicker On] I think there are 3 camps of *****ers here that need to be addressed. 1) Old Timers - Whether young or old, if you've been here awhile or have so many posts that you think you have special powers, then you are wrong. The users in this community that have been here awhile or are very active do have some informal powers as other users listen (or ignore) you more. When we work things out online like this your points may be respected more. However, when it comes down to it no one is above the law. I won't allow any bulling just because you are one of these old timers. You earn respect on the board over time by your community interaction. I don't care if you are here for 10 years, you can loose that respect quickly. 2) Young Guns - Whether young or old, the new users on the board feel threatened and intimidated by some of the old time users. We really do have an informal attitude that new users can't have an opinion about anything yet. Well, this ticks some of the young guns off and they act inappropriately. Someone can come on here with one post if they do it right and can be respected. You earn respect! Also, Young guns take awhile to understand the informal rules and etiquette of the community. This is understandable and between my welcome message, terms of use, rules yet to be published, and informal community "training" that's how we get everyone in the right frame of mind. We were adding only 200 users a month 6 months ago. We are adding 800-1000 users a month now. That's a bunch of training. The world isn't coming to an end though, just understand the reasons. 3) The JRV type supporters - This is my favorite one. You can count them on one hand, but it just eats them up inside how successful FerrariChat.com is. It's like supporting a little league team and having to play the "evil empire" Yankees. FerrariChat.com is a great community with great people. I had the ultimate Ferrari passion, I had the desire, I had the resources, and I had the head to make FerrariChat.com what it is today. That just eats those few people up that they're getting their ass kicked at something they didn't even have to be original at, but only duplicate. Your community isn't better, it's smaller now than FC was day one. [Toggle Texas Ass Kicker Off] Only goal here is to get some reality back in this discussion. Things haven't always been great, but we've learned and fixed stuff along the way. We'll always have new problems and address them as we always have in the past. The ones of recent have all been growth related, but I'm hitting this from 20 sides and if I need 50 sides, I will. My heart is with Ferrari and this community, I will do what's best.
LOL Jimpo1!!!!!!!! FOUND at last!!!!! Rob, did you pull a muscle patting yourself on the back, there???? MEDIC!!! MEDIC!!!! OVER HERE >>>>>>>>>>>>
When did I say anything about owning Off Topic? All I'm saying is: If you don't like it, why the hell post here? Or, if you don't like a particular thread or poster, IGNORE IT! Wow! What a concept? Until Rob instills rules regarding vulgarity, I'll post however I damn well choose to. Having you, J. Scott Leonard, or whoever dislike me has virtually ZERO bearing on my life. And while I figure you think you are cute and original, trying to hurt my wittle feewings with "IQ Test for the Military" barbs is OLD and WORN OUT. Sorry, bro. Perhaps your local Bible Study kids can arm you with something a tad bit more effective.
I'm sorry, but I don't even know who the f*ck you are. That was a nice rant and all, but I sat with a confused look on my face while reading it, asking myself "Who is this guy? What's his beef with me?" If I offended you or directed any post toward you in the past, could you link it for me? I have no clue what you are talking about....
That's an over-used and worthless quote. I know incredibly damn intelligent people who cuss like you wouldn't beleive all day long. Just cause Malcom X said something doesn't mean it's true.
