I keep seeing reviews talking about how big the 612 is. I decided to check the stats (courtesy of Ultimatespecs). Here's a sampling (some numbers slightly rounded):

    612 599 456 GTC4L FF 812
    L 193" 183.7" 186.2" 193.8" 193.2" 184.8"
    W 77.05" 77.24" 75.6" 77.95" 76.9" 77.6"
    H 52.9" 52.6" 51.2" 54.4" 54.3" 50.26"
    WB 116.1" 108.3" 102.3" 117.7" 117.7" 107.1"

In the day, yes the 612 became 7" longer and 1.5" wider than the 456 with a substantial wheelbase increase (and obviously engine positioned far back), but it is really on par with the successive GTC4-Lusso and FF. In the day perhaps it was a shock but today it shouldn't be. The potential notable difference with a long WB would be turn-in or turning radius differences. I guess today's all wheel steering technology will negate that aspect, not available in 2005....any thoughts?

(sorry I had the table lined up but the screen software won't preserve the spacing I had to make it legible)

The 612 is a big car- only 2 inches shorter than a Panamera.
But it has the magic ability to shrink as you drive it. Despite the long wheelbase, the turn in is better than my 575.
I think the weight distribution has a substantial affect on its “handling “ compared to others large cars.

    Online for the Panny I get: L 198" / W 76.26" / H 56" / WB 116.1"
I think perhaps the seating position makes a difference; on some cars due to the fender flares/aerodynamics the seating position can be more inboard which affects perception of this too.

I have both 612 OTO and Pano TTS, the 612 feels much lighter and “drives” much shorter than the Pano. The Pano is my DD and the 612 is one of my special weekend cars. The Pano, surprisingly gets pretty good gas mileage both in town and hwy cruising while the 612 has trouble passing a gas station but perhaps I have my foot in the 612 a bit more.
