There you go, it won't be enough, you see, even electric cars make too much pollution, brake dust, tire wear, road wear and dust scattering....100% ban on private transport will be the next step.

    https://www.eea.europa.eu/highlights/walking-cycling-and-public-transport

and, it will be an easy step, because with all these combustion car bans, and the complete inability to make comparable numbers of electric-only cars (80m+ per year just to match combustion cars), watch for that as the next step, it's the plan, you will be a serf, going backwards.

Because there is no way in the next 50+ years (indeed, if ever) that electric-only car manufacturing will match 80M+ (annually), the vastly smaller annual production will be restricted to fleets, not sold to persons....watch for that.

and, of course with all the continuing pollution from these electric appliances, they will be banned too, it's all for your own good!

Human lungs emit CO2 - perhaps Green Thinkers should stop breathing as well. You know, to save the planet.

Good point.. Simply too many humans on the planet. A lot of them are simply clogging up our roads making it difficult for us Ferrari owners to enjoy our cars in the way we deserve.;)

In 50+ years people will all be dressed the same, cars will all look the same , noiseless with limited power and people will feel grateful of being part of society while the lucky few control the world and the beloved cars we are debating here will stand proudly in private collections and museums and enjoyed by those lucky enough to understand and appreciate what they are

Maybe, but not if I can manage to do anything about it. Heading in the 812 right now to Viva - a local coffee shop created by a cool freedom-loving family. If enough folks band together and stand up for our rights… [emoji1360]

Indeed the final solution is autonomous vehicles and pure public transportation in most locations. You will not be issued a license as its just too dangerous for humans to be driving 2 ton bullets at each other with only inches apart. Not an 812VS Rumors topic but its just an obvious end point.

I need to buy an island. Only supercars allowed. Special permit for trucks but none issued for EVs - too damaging for the environment when they have to be decommissioned and use too much scarce electricity which would be needed for other things, like fridges to keep the beer cool. :)

In truth, they will be going for what we eat before they try to remove private transport. That is a huge producer of CO2 and meat production and consumption also offends other sensibilities many from these lobbies have.

They already go for what we eat. Sugar tax a few years ago, believe a soda tax was considered and now they are aiming for 6/7% salty food tax all on the basis it is good for your health…. So you want to watch the football finale with friends, have a couple of beers and chips as a starter here we go the government needs to join the party.. wanna get a burger well that’s salty and of course not good for you..a tax on meat will be here soon. Then wine, then water and of course eventually on electric car batteries… because 30+ years from they will deem too polluting… what’s next?

Eventually when human population gets to a point when there will be literally no room for individual cars on our roads i see an advanced system of fully automated transport system taking over 100%.
Hopefully that'll be so far in the future neither myself or my kids will have to endure this depressing dystopian nightmare. AI is already starting to get a grip on society which can only get more controlling IMO.

I don’t see the world so orderly in the future. I see the point when the world is overpopulated and war will ensue to decompress the excess population probably started by one of the superpowers or troublemaker countries looking to lock in resources for itself. Alternatively there may be another pandemic, this time more lethal killing off the excess.
Sounds like another dystopian end of the world movie. Ferraris will have been disassembled and it’s engines used for Mad Max type vehicles.
    I’ll be long gone
    What a relief [emoji28]

The first functional four-stroke Otto ICE was available from 1876 but its real implementation only happened in 1908 with the mass production of the Ford Model T. That meant a radical paradigm shift because until then and during many centuries, horses and other animals provided the primary means of transportation all over the world and people ride them or travel in horse-drawn carts.
With the announcement of the ban on the ICE in many countries by 2035 we are seeing once more a paradigm shift. In the beginning of the 20th century cars with ICE were part of a revolutionary innovation that made travelling faster, more practical, more economical, and more comfortable when compared to animal ride or horse-drawn carts. The reasons behind the present shift of paradigm from ICE cars to EV don’t appear to have anything to do with great technological advancements or consumer’s choices because they are mainly political.
Will cars with an ICE go the same route as horses? With legislation planned for 2035 that will forbid the selling of new ICE cars in many countries, the ICE cars that will survive will be those that are rarer, more beautiful but, also, the ones that are more fun to drive. Even if ICE cars go the way the horse-drawn carriage, I fully agree with Mr. Tomoyama from Toyota that said “People will still always own a favorite or “beloved horse” (a car with an ICE in this case) “

Everything takes longer than predicted. We were supposed to be in flying cars like the Jetsons by year 2000, yet people are still driving around in 1960s muscle cars.

Okay, so let’s say our beloved sports cars are going to have a significant paradigm shift for the majority of us by 2040 (which I think is doubtful in many rural areas of the US).

    What does that mean?

Statistically a great many of your reading this are going to be too preoccupied with significant health issues such as cancer, heart attacks, strokes and/or financial hardships prior to that time to care. So worry about that instead.

Can we stop turning every thread into a doomsday prediction of the future, and get back to talking about the cars we love today?
