Like any car with deferred maintenance, the removal of that awful blue would have to be reflected in the price (any time I see a non-red F40 the first thing I wonder about is the accident which made repainting an option).

Is it possible to remove all the paint and take it back to its original state to preserve the weave, before adding thin red paint, such as the car originally had?

The fact that someone splattered it all over the internet would reduce its value to me, as everyone who sees it in blue and watches youtube will enjoy telling me how many times this car has been modified over the years (and will assume I got it cheap). 900k Euro, max?

I would think that even a tangential Shmee association should lead to additional discounting, as your name could be associated, even peripherally, with his. That is hard to recover from.

There could even be some people confusing this blue one with the other blue F40 (different shade) that is involved in the chassis number swap (90969 and 85397........ see separate thread).

Indeed. I was under the impression that the exhaust would be installed at the factory. My understanding was that the Tubi was on the options list back when one could order an F40. But even if it was an option on the list, it could have been something dealers installed as part of the PDI. I'm not that wise in the ways of the F40, I'm just going by what others and some dealer reps have told me over the years.

I think for me it made sense as Tubi is a Modena based company too, so had it been the case, it would not have been that hard for Ferrari to get Tubi to make an F40 exhaust as an option.

    Oh well, live and learn.

F40s were delivered by the factory to dealers with the standard exhaust unit.

I know I shouldn't admit this, but part of me likes some of these repainted F40s. I don't care for this shade of blue and don't like that he picked a non-Ferrari color, but it's exciting to see this shape in a color other than red from time to time.

If anyone is interested on seeing more of the car just search Sam Moore on Youtube and IG, quite a nice lad, plenty of videos with the f40, very sensible and has quite a nice car podcast as well.

I agree, but thought it was interesting it says the reserve is close to being met at that price.

All of the pikers got to play and did right up until it said the reserve was close to being met. Now it’s radio silence. I suppose we’ll see what happens right at the end and knowing the next bid may actually have to wire some cash to pay for it.

With these types of online auctions selling cars of over say $250k, I think a letter of credit should be requisite just as with high end car auctions such as RM and Gooding. It’d certainly cut out the BS’ers in a hurry and help ensure only real buyers are participating.

To answer question above: fuel bladders are due for replacement in 2024

Sam has clearly been sensible with his reserve, lets hope it rockets above that sum.

I imagine it will end up in the states given the strong dollar to the pound.in recent times.

If going by strength of currency, it could also end up in Europe. The Pound is just overall soft and both Euro and Dollar buyers are at an advantage.
