I ditched the K-Jet and installed a Holley 950 commander with 24 lb injectors, and an ordinary centrifugal / vacuum advance distirbutor . It runs but I am not thrilled with the Commander 950 since it’s not self tuning, and does not seem to work with any distributorless ignition system that I can find.

What do you recommend for an excellent ECU and distributorless ignition that is more tailored to a 308 and not a small block chevy?

Since you've removed the stock fuel injection system, I'm not aware of any quick plug/play system that's going to easily pop in there.

I use an Electromotive XDI, but that only replaces the coils and Digiplex boxes - all the fuel and air delivery systems are still stock. I know others have taken it further with injectors, but that gets into heavy/bespoke modification.

To add a quality EFI system you will need to modify the existing fuel rails. After that, it is fairly straight forward. Likely need to add a cam position sensor and some type of flywheel sensor. I just added additional pins to the flywheel and used the stock sensor for crank position.
    I use Motec EFI.

Link, not exactly inexpensive though. But one of the easier ones for initial start up.

There's lots of choices, AEM, haltech, ecu master, electromotive. TWM induction... But that requires carb runners and an ECU.

Fuel rails are the biggest hurdle.

Friend of mine is dealing in EFIgnition.. very nice and easy to program systems.. He already had done an 308 (only ignition) so he could make a loom and program the ignition on forehand.. Me myself also thinking of refitting to EFI because the CIS is a pain in the arse...
As SMG2 said, the fuel rail is the biggest hurdle.. all the other things are straight foreward . (Fuel trim is a closed loop!)

Would the point of losing the stock system not be to run cams and pisitons, otherwise seems like not much to gain.

Several reasons to switch. If your existing CIS is defective or if you have extensive cam/ piston etc. or turbo or supercharger.
There is some debate over how much improvement there is on a totally stock engine. I think there is some improvement if you tune properly.

Most modern aftermarket ECU's are pretty much the same. The more you pay, the more features you get. Whether you need those features is another story completely. I've done many carb and old FI (D-Jet, K-Jet) to EFI conversions. The bulk of the work is in the hardware setup and it usually takes some custom fabrication and adapting of parts depending on the install. The ECU wiring is pretty straight forward and mostly the same across all the ECU choices out there.

Hi Mark, that is interesting, have you actually used these on a 308 manifold? Do they have a o ring seal on the body to seal against the injector pocket? Its hard to tell from the photos. A few things I noticed straight away is that the fuel line appears to be plastic and push on? That is fine in an OEM installation where everything is designed, manufactured and tested to work together. Adapting that to the old school fuel lines of the Ferrari would take some work. Also I couldn't see how those injectors are held in place? Again that will take some work to resolve, especially as those injectors are quite narrow and appear to have no shoulder to retain them from. I normally use Bosch EV type injectors and either machine the manifolds or make adapter cups. But the length of those Delphi injectors would be great for the 308 due to the deep injector pockets! Any more details on the individual injectors would be great!
