Ian's marked diagram should be correct, 1-4 is the side and 5-8 is the bottom sensor. In this way, the teeth of the wheel pass the 1-4 sensor first, then the 5-8, which is the same as how the sensors are arranged on the 348. Provided, of course, that the 348 & 355 engines are configured in the same way and rotate in the same direction.

Yes, the 348 and 355 turn the same way. We have know for a long time that the WSM is incorrect in that one diagram. The sensor for bank 1 (1-4) is at the 3 oclock position.

The 348 is slightly different because the 1-4 is on the bottom and the 5-8 is on the right hand side (not the left).

but the gap in the toothed wheel still hits the 1-4 sensor first.

If the engine was started with the gap at 7:30, I guess the 4-8 would be first, but I assume the cam sensor sorts out that ambiguity?

So the sensor on the bottom controls the bank 5-8 actually? wow it's confusing. I wasn't aware that the WSM manual is actually shows incorrectly on some diagrams?
I may have disturbed the other sensor indeed.

I ran the car 3 times today in the garage, and engine runs perfectly. The RPM stay at normal range.
I may actually drive the car and see how it is, cause in the standing position it's normal.

An Update. Drove the 355 yesterday and everything revs great! Drove the car for over an hour. Not even a slight hesitation. Seems like the problem with 1-4 light went away after a few runs.

Ran the car that day but now another problem occured. My buffer 163525 went bad, it came apart while I was in my 3rd gear. had to get home in 3rd. The shifter was stuck in 3rd gear because of that.
